Well, read this article to find out!
Star Wars.com wrote: | Special Announcement: Episode III Title
July 24, 2004
starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005.
The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi.
The title was publicly revealed today in a special presentation to a packed audience of Star Wars fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Let the debates begin."
The title wasn't the only surprise for those in attendance at the presentation. Click here for news about even more Star Wars DVDs in 2004 and 2005, surprise celebrity guests, new planets in Episode III, and more...
First Revenge of the Sith T-shirt
At the end of the Star Wars Spectacular presentation, Steve Sansweet revealed he was wearing a special T-shirt bearing the Episode III title, with a style reminiscent of the 1982 Fan Club Revenge of the Jedi logo and shirts available for a limited time before the final Return of the Jedi title was revealed. "If you're interested in one, stop by the shop at the Star Wars pavilion, where they're going on sale just about now."
If you're not at the show, don't worry... you can order your own retro Revenge of the Sith shirt now available exclusively here at StarWarsShop.com.
About Episode III
After three long years of relentless fighting, the Clone Wars are nearly at an end. The Jedi Council dispatches Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring General Grievous, the deadly leader of the Separatist droid army, to justice. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Chancellor Palpatine has grown in power. His sweeping political changes transform the war-weary Republic into the mighty Galactic Empire. To his closest ally, Anakin Skywalker, he reveals the true nature of power and the promised secrets of the Force in an attempt to lure him to the dark side.

I like Trek a lot, but Star Wars is better.
It was the first Sci-Fi thing that I really liked.
It rocks! And BTW, I really like the title.

Awesome. I thought it would be "Elimination of the Jedi", but I suppose "Revenge of the Sith" means about the same thing

Personally, I thought the naming of the movie was funny. The reason should be known to all True Star Wars fans.
For those who don't know, the Original Title for "Return of the Jedi" was supposed to be "Revenge of the Jedi"
The May 19th date isn't surprising either. I figured he'd release it then. Constant themes keep on running.

Yes, that is true about that name. However, REVENGE OF THE SITH fits it better than REVENGE OF THE JEDI. And yes, the theme of May release dates is so easy to consider.

Yeah im a big fan of Star Wars myself too. This name fits perfectly. It parallels Return of the Jedi nicely. Which as others already said was originally going to be called Revenge of the Jedi. I cant wait for this movie.

I don't see the parallel, but I'm a BIG fan of Star Wars as well.

The paralell is the Sith grow into power in the last PT movie and the Jedi grow into power in the last OT movie. I also meant the titles. Although Revenge of the Jedi didn't stick but you know what I mean..........

I personaly think that the first 3 that came out were the best but the prequals (SP) well they just sucked imo they took a good story and hacked it up just to make profit imo.

Yeah I like the title, it's not very very cool but it's fine. I'm glad they're finally making the third movie.
Any news on the sequals?

George Lucas did NOT do it to make a quick buck. He made it to show us what lead up to the original three. Yikes, Liberals (yes, I know, Lucas is a Liberal) but Liberals ALWAYS have theories like that, huh? (Note the )

Yes. There are NOT going to be any sequals. Lucas is retiring soon after this one, and so are the movies. Of course, it would be cool for a "Sith War" or "Great Hyperspace War" movie.

Im sure they did want to make money alongthe way but it wasnt just that. He was finishing a great story. The PT have been very entertaining. Good acting, great action, and its Star Wars! Need I say more?
Sequals? As in episode 7-9? Yeah I heard it isnt going to be done. It might be though. Lucas said there would never be an Indian Jones 4 and they are making one now.

Republican_Man I agree! Those topics would be great. I have enjoyed seeing the Jedi in their prime. Seeing them in even larger numbers would be great. After playing KOTOR I have been interested in that time period of SW.

Okay, well yes, money is involved, I agree and I also agree with your whole first paragraph (and everything else).
But episodes 7-9 are a MUCH larger scale than a 4th Indiana Jones movie, if you think about it, so...
And yes, I agree with your agreements. We should start a petition about that.

I see your point there.

How do you start one of those online petitions because I would like to see a movie based one something similar to Knights of the Old Republic, which I have yet to be able to play.

I think it's quite a good title, but not the best there could have been. Saying that I can't think of a better one myself at the moment! Star Wars was what got me into Sci-Fi and the first bunch of films I really liked. The last two (episodes 1 and 2) aren't quite in the same style though, even though they are good films in their own right. At one point they were considering making some small movies to go along with the films, but that never happened. I would love them to make episodes 7-9, would make my year,
