PostSat Jul 24, 2004 4:18 pm    What's your typing speed?

Hey all. I was just wondering what everyone's typing speed was? Mine is just under 117 correct words a minute (I should be at like 119, but I only have 98% accuracy.) What's yours?

CWAM is short for Correct Words a Minute. If you don't know, try this test (warning: the results are not 100% accurate!)

Choose CPM, do a one minute test and divide your resulting number by four, and that's your typing speed, about. (your actual typing speed may be up to 5 or 6 words faster or slower).

Is there a test you can do to find out? I'll guess about 70 but I'm not too sure.

I added a test to my first post. It's not all the way accurate, but it gives you a good guess at least.

I just write a lot, but I can't type nearly as well if I'm not looking at the keyboard. I usually don't have to copy stuff with typing, so I really have no reason to learn to type without looking... I sort of can. I guess I should practice that more

Mine says...

Gross speed: 292 CPM
Errors: 3 words
Net speed: 277 WPM
Accuracy: 94%

It also says I typed very well, if that means anything

Impressive. Very impressive.

Unfortunately, it is false. The top 100 of the week states the best time as a net speed of 161 WPM. Sorry mate.

I'm too lazy to figure out my CWPM but my AWPM (adjusted words per minute) is somewhere between 100 and 140 even though mavis says I'm only at 84

- Test Name: Huckleberry Finn
- Date: 2004-07-26 14:01
- Test Time: 01:00
- Gross Speed: 219 CPM
- Errors: 2
- Accuracy: 95%

- NET SPEED: 209 CPM

That gives me a WPM of around 52, which isn't bad when you're half asleep, with a baby on your lap trying to type for you
