DS9 is better than all the other series. Its the only show that actually has aliens that LOOK alien. The crew is great. Its not about a ship going from planet to planet coviently solving problems in one hour. Kinda like VOY does with the Borg. Borg are so fearsome yet VOY rip through them like nothing. The story explored a new quadrant. The coolest enemy came into play, the Dominion. The show was a lot about a great war. The show was alot darker as opposed to the happy TNG and VOY. Worf was at his best here. They had the Defiant the only Fed. ship to have cloak. Also the show meant someting more because it wasn't just about a war or exploring or any of that. Sisko became a chosen one to the Propehts. He died to save the alpha quadrant. It had a spiritual side that NONE of the other shows even touched. It meant something MORE because he was fighting a war between God like people(prophets and Pah-wraiths). It was just cooler.

I agree totally with everything Founder said.
Ds9 was more mature than any trek ever before. It was dark, and sometimes depressing.A lot of episodes didnt have the "happy ending " TNG for example always had (dont get me wrong.I also love TNG).
It had the best character development. (...well...i did not like some turns the writers took with some characters the last two seasons...Jadzia Dax and such...).
I guess Ds9 will always be seen by the masses as Star Trek`s unloved middle child, because it was brought out between TNG and Voyager, both of wich had bigger audiences.Because of,im sure, especially the first seasons,Ds9 didnt have that much action,it was more character/character plotlines.(Untill the war came along, that is)
You didnt have (well...i guess you`ve never had it in any Star trek) black and white people.I dont mean as in race,i mean as in morality. You didnt have "this person is a saint, that person is evil".You learned to understand what made each character tick. They became like family.
Deltasvoyager,i`d suggest giving it another try.But if you dont like it...well,to each his own.No one can force you. You`ll have to decide for yourself.
And theres a lot of beautifull ships and stations you get to see over the different series`,but to me,old "half-falling-apart-at-times" Ds9 is just the most beautifull thing ever .Because its different. Not Starfleet clean-cut.Just like the show itself is very different.

He died to save the alpha quadrant. Sisko? I thought he was cast into a ore to learn more as the emissary in the end and would return to the real world after a year or so he told jake and cassidy? Correct me if im wrong..

You are wrong, because the Pah-Wraiths would have tried to destroy it through Dukat. I believe that was mentioned in one episode. I dont think he died just to join the propehts. I think the Propehts took him when he died because they wanted him to do more, not so much learn......

Thanks for the info. Im still puzzled to whether sisko died or not in the lava pit with gul dukat. It didnt show him being burned up but him being in spiritual form with the prophets, his body could have been preserved by the prophets as his pass visits have had him alive while visiting. And another point, when he told cassidy and jake that he would be gone for awhile but would be back;did that mean he would be back in spirit form or body form?Would the prophets resurrect him if he is dead?Could someone explain that to me?

kokori I wondered the same thing. You are right, I don't remember seeing his body burn up. Maybe his body was pulled away to the Prophets? Althogh the only times when that happened is when hes in the wormhole or near an orb. If he did die and they pulled his spirit, how do the prophets pull at his spirit? Im assuming he meant his physical form when he talked to Kassidy Yates. Im not sure though. Those are good questions. Unfortunetly, I dont think they have been answered before.

No offense, but I think you have this blind prejudice to anything non-Voyager. You have to kinda shut it off and be open minded. The charecters grow during each season. Watch them from season 1 and look at them in season 7 and you will see they have grown up or changed somehow. Thats rare for any show. But don't worry. If you still don't like it. DS9 is not for everyone. Seriously though, you're missing out.

According to the relaunch Sisko didn't die; the prophets pulled him into their realm somehow. I can't remember how exactly but its explained in the DS9 relaunch because he eventually returns (book entitled "Unity").

One character that really comes to the mind is Nog. In the 1st season, we see him operate as a petty thief, troublemaker and source of many problems. Befriending Jake did change him a little and got more involved with education and trying to learn things. By the 3rd season he made an application to Starfleet Academy because he did not want to "End up like his father." We see him graduate, get promoted, lose a leg, pilot the Defiant, and many other things. To keep things simple, he was not the same character at the end as he was in the beginning.

I agree with the above post. Nog is a GREAT example. He changes so much. He goes from caring about gold pressed latinum to honor and serving starfleet. Odo was another great example. He went from being an unknown alien species to being a Founder. Although he never decides to take that role. The conflict was a cool story. Would he go back or not? I liked that. Also this was one of the few ST shows that let the minor charecters grow.

Thank you, Prophets! I surely hope you are right, cause I don't want the perfect ending being messed up. On wednesday, next week I'll comment the ending and there will be no spoilers needed ! Cheers neo_viral and Founder! You really comforted me

No problem at all gul. Watch and be mystified at one of the greatest episodes of DS9. This episode will really make you want a DS9 movie to be made. I demand one be made BTW!

A Ds9 movie...yes...
Dont remind me...
Desperation for a Trek (especially Ds9..) movie ,you know its reached a high when you and some friends are SERIOUSLY considering mortgaging all your wordly posessions, buying Silicon graphics workstations, getting out Softimage and making your OWN Trek movie (albeit in CGI ) then releasing the whole thing online ,just for fun.Just because a movie is NEEDED. Because if you wait for Paramount, chances are good it will never happen.
Its nice to dream. Its all that keeps us going these days

Probably they think the Star Trek franchise is worn out and they want to make those other, non-Star Trek related movies . That are BTW in 90% PIECES OF S**T!!

I think they think ENT is the best thing since TNG.
I think it's good, but not that good. They should make a DS9/VOY movie, with Admeral Janeway.
