PostWed Jun 16, 2004 4:01 pm    New Series of Babylon 5 Novels!

Just thought I'd post the good news. Well good news for B5 fans.
There's gonna be a new series of novels according to www.jmsnews.com! woohoo!

As far as I can tell there havn't been any details released yet but...well things must be looking up for the franchise if publishers are willing to print a series of novels!

Oh yeah and "TMoS" apparently stands for "The Memory of Shadows"

Yeah, I heard about this. Good news!

In similar news, a new series of Stargate SG1 novels is also in planning. However, it might be UK-only.

I might get hold of the Stargate ones... I wasn't that keen on Babylon 5.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to them.

I got Season 4 of B5 on DVD yesterday and Season 3 today (my excuse being that it was in the sale).

I meant to watch Stargate the other day, just to see what all the fuss is about lol. Apparently they've launched a spin-off, "Atlantis" is it?

Yes, Stargate Atlantis premiers this Friday at 9pm. There will be a repeat of the Stargate SG-1 season 8 premier prior to that, at 7pm. (Both are 2-hour events.)

You'll probably be able to follow the S8 premier well enough even without too much backstory.....it does pick up on several previous plot threads, but it doesn't rely *too* heavily on what's past. A lot of SG1 is like that. Only thing you really need to know is that the Replicators are kinda like LEGO Borg.

I doubt the ATL pilot will require too much knowledge of SG1, since its a new series and all, but I'm not sure since I've avoided spoilers.

EDIT: You might also want to check out From Stargate to Atlantis: A Scifi Lowdown which will be on at 6pm on Friday.

As to the B5 novels, any futher details yet? Perhaps this new series will be tied into Babylon 5: The Memory of Shadows.

Havn't heard anything about the books yet but am really looking forward to them.

As for Stargate, I don't have cable so I'll have to wait for it to come on terrestrial TV and since I'm in the UK it'll be twice as long a wait. No!!!

There was a magazine the other day with a DVD on the front with an episode which supposedly "sets up the Atlantis series" - on the cover it said something about them finding something burried under the ice somewhere
But I didn't have any money on me so the next day when I went back, what a surprise, it had been sold.

It is on TV at the moment (the original series that is) but its on at about 3am and I always forget to record it. D'oh!

^That sounds like the season 7 2-hour finale, "The Lost City". Pretty good episode, although the fact that it was cut way down (it was original written as a feature film) was kinda obvious.

Let me know what episode is playing at 3am next, and I'll tell you if its any good.

Lol just my luck! I looked through the TV guide to see when it was next on and they must've taken it off. They've only just done it because i saw it advertised in the TV guide advertised as a double-bill for last tuesday night/wednesday morning. Perhaps they double-billed it if it was the last episodes of the season

In regards to TMoS, I was reading through what little information has been released and at one bit, JMS states the things that TMoS is not. Later he refers back to this, saying that one of things that he said it wouldn't be would now be an "adjunct" to it. One of the things he said it wasn't, were novels. I wonder if you're right; that the new novel series will accompany TMoS.

Did any of that make sense? I know my capslock button is having a fit about having been turned on and off so many times in a paragraph.

I don't actually know what TMoS actually is yet? Has it been announced yet?

JMS has mentioned "16 by 9" in relation to The Memory of Shadows, which strongly suggests a theatrical movie. However, I don't think he's confirmed that yet.
