I'd like to know when Geordi get his new eyes. I know he has them in First Contact, but do they show when they are "installed"?

No, they don't. The Enterprise-D is detroyed in ST:VII-Generations, he gets them by his assignment on Enterprise-E in ST:VIII-First Contact.

That about sums it up, yah. Although, I wonder if the eyes are better than the VISOR. Like in terms of what he can see, detect, etc.

Yes, I think they are, because in "First contact" he sees Zefram Cochrane with IR vision (when they try to track him down)

They would be better for some things, such as seeing in other wavelengths that humans can't normally see in. I'm not sure if they'd be better quality vison though.

The writers were discussing giving him normal vision at one time and in a way curing his blindness but they decided against it as a way of sympathising with blind people who can't just get a magic cure. They wanted to show his struggle to represent theirs.

In a way, I dislike the fact that Geordi got rid of the VISOR. Whenever I think of Geordi, he's wearing the VISOR.
I know that the actor LeVar Burton hated the VISOR thing because it hurt him and it gave him headaches.

Yes I agree with you. The visor gave him that extra identity. It's a shame they couldn't have made it more comfortable for him.
