Sat Jun 12, 2004 2:31 pm Ideas for Van Helsing 2 |
|
As I said in another topic, I really enjoyed Van Helsing. I don't really like CGI that much (although it has it's uses) so didn't have good feelings about the movie. But it entertained me, it elicited emotion from me and it was a fun ride. Hugh Jackman rocks, man!
Anyway, I wonder-if the movie is a success, would they do a sequel? Who could be in it? Let's share ideas.
I think a good villain for a potential sequel would be The Invisible Man. In a lot of comic books and TV shows, the Invisible Man was a good guy. But the original novel and the 1933 movie-he was an evil son of a gun! What an opponent he would make, even Van Helsing would have trouble with him.
How about a Mummy? And I'm not talking about a decrepit and skinny 2,000 year old Mummy? I think a good idea would be to have a muscular mummy with superhuman strength and flashing red eyes.
A zombie would be a good idea for a sequel. I'm not talking about a slow lumbering zombie who eats brains, I'd prefer an intelligent and slightly invincible zombie who isn't exactly slow on his feet.
And perhaps a Creature of the Black Lagoon-style monster for Van Helsing to contend with. Or how about a Medusa-style creature? Or an evil wizard?
I'd love to see a sequel and see Van Helsing kick some more butt!

You know what I thought when I was walking out of the theater from seeing Van Helsing? "It would RULE if there was a sequel!" And it would too. Now we can post in this topic and get all the details straight for the Van Helsing sequel, and then if one does come out it'll be completely different from how we planned it. I was kind of bummed that they killed off Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the movie though, cause that would have made an AWESOME film all on its own.

Gondor! Gondor, between the mountains and the sea
West wind blew there; the light upon the Silver Tree
Fell like bright rain in the gardens of the Kings of old
O proud walls! White towers! O winged crown and throne of gold...

I agree with that, Gondor Girl. Jekyll/Hyde would have made a worthy adversary for Van Helsing later on in the movie or in a sequel.
I hope they do make a sequel. Not purely for the sake of it but because I think there are a couple of good stories they can tell.

I think a Prequel would be much better. "The Origin of Van Helsing" seeing as how they only gave a little bit of background info in the movie every now and then.

Or how about a prequel and a sequel. That would be totally awesome.

Since we're all so keen, why don't we make the movie? I can probably spare 2000 (ha, that'll probably be Hugh Jackman's catering bill).
But a prequel would be good. And a sequel. Like I said before, I'm not one for sequels for the sake of it. But when I came out of the cinema, I immediately knew that there was more scope for the character.
Hey. maybe they should do Van Helsing VS Wolverine.
