PostTue May 25, 2004 12:33 pm    Iraq all bad?

Subject: Fw: The Truth about what's GOOD in Iraq
I just received this. It is from an American friend of mine. He is in
the military, so it could be a tad biased, however, they are right about
the media only reporting the bad things. I leave it up to you to form your
own opinion, this is a soldiers side of it - not politicians.

The Truth about what's GOOD in Iraq from a National Guardsman

As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I
wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home.

And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in
Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your biased newspaper is producing):

Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time
ever in Iraq.

Over 400,000 kids have up to date immunizations. . Over
1500 schools have been renovated and ridded of the weapons that were stored there so education can occur. . The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off loaded from ships faster.

School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war. . The country had it's first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August.

The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war.

100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed compared to 35%
before the war.

Elections are taking place in every major city and city councils are in place.

Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.

Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets. . Over 100,000 Iraqi civil
defense police are securing the country. Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers
are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers.

Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever.

Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs.

An interim constitution has been signed.

Girls are allowed to attend school for the first time ever in Iraq.

Textbooks that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years.

Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I
have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge
anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. So If you happen to run into John Kerry, be sure to give him my email address and send him to Denison, Iowa. This soldier will set him straight. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening.

name blanked in case (I did that) , SFC Iowa Army National Guard

See now, Liberals?
This is great news that if Fox News didn't present the truth I would not have known about.

Liberals only want to see what they want to see. They don't care about anything else.

Exactly, and it is atrocious! (I think I spelt that wrong)
Most Liberal Democrats WANT us to LOSE the War in Iraq just to make Bush look bad, and that's the truth.

Alright RM, stop with the Generalizations.

First off, That is a bold faced LIE. Liberals do NOT want us to lose the war.

Second, Bush has already made himself look bad, we had nothing to do with it.

This Truth you keep refering to is more like your "What communism really is" truth.

Maybe they 'Don't.' However, how sorry could you really picture, for example, Kerry, if we lost tomorrow? He wouldn't be too unhappy, I don't think. It would be another reason to say we were wrong. So, in a sense, us losing the war wouldn't exactly be anything too fearsome to Liberals. It would probably be a bit of a plus, from a political stand-point, don't you think?

And the second remark isn't entirely true either. 'Made himself look bad' is an opinion, for one (Which I would disagree with), and the liberal media doesn't exactly do anything to help. And please don't tell me I'm hiding behind this thing about 'Liberal Media.' Even the liberals, where I come from, admit that the media is tilted in Liberal favor; it's no secret.

Good things are happening in Iraq for the first time in a long time, I should think most people would be glad about that.

Glad to've read the post on the stuff happening in Iraq, it's nice to hear.

I don't think RM is a liar. He speaks from the heart and the truth. And Liberals just can't handle it.

though it wouldn't hurt, it's not possible. nore would we let it happen. No matter who you are, Republican or Democrat, once we enter a war, We must win it.

Actully, it's not an opinion. even republicans I know say that he makes himself look bad every so often. and again, Yes, some of the media is too liberal.

and Kmma, what he said wasn't the truth it was a horrible lie that I'm surprised that you, as a christian, believe. ask any liberal you know if they WANT us to lose this war. I guarentee you'll get the same answer from all of them, "NO"

Ok Kmma is right, I'm a Socialist and even I don't want to cause an Argument in here (for once ). I admit there has been good things that happened in Iraq both Political and Religious e.g Shi'ites allowed to pray at the Shrines in Karb'ala and Girls allowed to attend School.

Let's not bring up whether or not people will accept this. It's the Truth, if Liberals or anyone else wants to deny this they can; but they'd be pretty foolish if they denied something that was factual. At the same time, However I think Republican supporters need to stop encouraging argument with posts like "The Liberals won't accept this" etc.

I apologize for things that I have said. But when someone makes a broad generalization about liberals, I tend to get on the defensive side of things.

It is good to hear that things are getting better in Iraq, it's about time the people had equal opportunity.

Why would a Liberal say that they don't want us to win? Of COURSE they wouldn't.

For the most part, yes, but Fox News has shown MANY good things, along with the bad. It TRULY is Fair and Balanced. Thank God for it. Balance in TV news for once.

Republican Man? what was the point in raising the Liberal debate again?!! Link apologised which he really didn't need to and after us saying that this topic is not for an Argument of Liberals and Republicans, you still proceeded with a little commentary on Liberals

I never said not to let political parties get into it.
And I appologize for my statement. I should have specified that it was the FAR Left Liberals that do, as well as several other groups of Democrats.

Do you have proof to back up your statements?

No, I do not have exact proof, but one could guess this because they hate Bush so much. You can find that all over the place--especially at MoveOn.org.

^and with that answer RM, all your arguments on that issue have become null and void.

Back on topic:

Quote:
100% of hospitals are open and fully staffed

That's great news to hear. While Saddam was in power many people were dying from simple diseases because many hospitals were closed. Now these people can have a better life.

Exactly. And schools now have waterfountains for water--you don't have to get it from puddles anymore--and toilets are worthy to be used and just SO MANY THINGS ARE BETTER THERE.

Now I ask, "Why does the media pretty much NEVER show the good in Iraq when there are SO many good things?"

((Oh, and I guess that Liberal's Want Us to Lose arguement was more of an opinionated belief than a factual one...))

Emm they do quite a lot over here, there was two documentaries on Karbal'a the Shi'ite Holy City and how Shi'as are free to worship there now. There was a 9 Parter Weekly show called "Iraq Now- After the Fall of Saddam" comparing the developement and regime changes in Iraq with the Baathist Regime.
