I myself used to be extremly racist I must admit but I relised I didn't dislike people of different skin colors or origins I disliked the fact that the British Goverment give alot of these poeple whatever they want which some then sell and claim it was stolen from them here are a few reason that me and people of my area dislike but about the goverment and some of the people however we like most of them :
1.)at the age of 13 a 20 something year old he grabbed me by the throat and slammed me into the fence and threatened me during my dinner break at school when the police were involved he claimed I was racially abusive to him and I got told there was nothing they could do even though I had several whitnessess who could say I was not racially abusive to him
Summary : the law is not on the average white mans side which make the white english man blame the foriegn person or person of a different origin
2.)if a police station is busy and have 1 unit they can dispatch and they get 2 calls 1 from a white man and one from a different coloured man or man of different origins they are supposed to respond to the coloured person first
Summary : I don't have one but thought it was an interesting fact that a friend who works very closely with the police told me
3.)Many people of different origins or skin color who get alot of items for free off the Goverment smash there own windows making it look like they were broken into and had lots of items stole when they actually sell the items for more money
Summary : even though this is done by only a few foriegn or different coloured people do this this give a bad name to those who don't do this
Although I myself am no longer racist these few facts are reasons why the average racist blames the average foriegn or coloured person
I do believe either 1 of 2 things will happen
1.)There will be a civil revolt by the white population
Reason for believing this : Alot of people say its coming so its possible it will happen
2.)Racism will be no more
Reason for believing this : My little brother aged 10 was extremly racist and would never have played with a person of foriegn origin or coloured skin now he plays with them most nights
I hope the 2nd option is what will happen
This is a Generalisation and these are only facts in my local area do not class them as true for all areas

I find this very hard to believe and frankly, I don't think it's true. The police are supposed to respond to the cry that's most in need of assistance. There's not based on their skin color of religion. If however the police do act differently to different ethnic groups, then they are the ones being racist. This gives you an extra obligation to treat all people equally.
I do understand that in some situations it might be hard not be become a racist. For instance when you have been beaten up, on several occasions, by someone with a different skin color, one tends to discriminize a whole group of people. I understand that it's hard, but because something is hard doesn't mean you have to agree with it.
It's a fact that, it's more likely to find racists among people from a lower income class. The percentage of racists decreases in groups of people who have had a better education. So even though it's hard at times, try not to be racist and better yourself.
Star Trek is a good example. In Star Trek, everyone is treated equally, no matter what race they come from.

The British Government is racist, I agree with you. Positive discrimination is a tool that a minority of ethnic minorities use to get what they want or to get out of trouble.
However, I try not to paint everyone with the same brush and most people I know hate what's happening, no matter what the colour of their skin.

Captain.Dan, there is something you can do about what you think about the System, Write to your local counciller, but Whatever you do (this goes for everyone in the UK) do not resort to trust in any of the following groups.
1) The British National Party
2) The National Front
3) SG-88
All of these groups claim they want to solve the problem of political incorrectness but all they actually plan to do is turn Multi-Cultural UK into a Aryan Haven, that would include shipping of Millions of Mixed Race and Ethnic British people (Including myself).

My opinion about racism: (I'll try to be succinct)
Racism, and racists, are stupid.
(how was that? )

Look I don't know where you are getting False Statistics like this but I am currently studying Modern Studies (Current Affairs and Politics) and the majority of "Coloured People" (Ethnic Minorities) are here with work permits and do not get money off of the Government. The Government may have a campaign of Political Correctness, but from studying "Equality in Race and Gender" I know that people like you need to stop complaining, The System is not fitted to suit "Coloured people" as you so eliquently put it; it is there to cater for All aspects and corners of British Culture wherever it may be derived from.

I think that as long as there are differences of culture, there will be racism. No matter if it's wanted or not, I can't realistically think that discrimination won't come with difference.

This used to be a very hot topic for me. I think I've kind of calmed down, though, so I'll try to look at it more objectively.
Racism is defined as the belief that one race holds a higher stats than another, i.e. "whites are better than blacks" etc. (just as sexism and ageism hold the same sort of meaning. I do not believe the term "racism" means to hate another race, a racist simply believes that he/she is better than an individual of another race. I think hate comes in a whole different category.
I've been reading this book called Uprooting Racism by Paul Kivel, a book written by a white man for white people about how they (whites) can help the fight against racism. I've decided the book is hardly worth anything, as the author was Jewish, and soon into the book it just takes a stand on Anti-Semitism rather than the fight against racism I was looking for (stereotyping Christians as being brought up hating Jews, which, for me, was never an issue). Anyway.
There was one thing in the book, however, that stood out to me. That no matter how anyone tries to deny it, most everyone is going to be a bit racist at the core. Prejudice (the act of pre-judging) comes into play here, in the fact that I don't believe anyone is truely "colorblind". When I see a person of African American decent, the first thing that comes to my mind, whether consciously or not, is that they are black. Is that bad? I don't think so. Because I know the first thing that comes to their mind is that I'm white.
Subconsciously or unconsciously, I believe I am partially racist. If I see some bum homie walking down the street, yeah, I'm sure what pops into my subconscious is that he got like that because he was black. But on the flip side, if a well-off, high class mijo or homie sees me walking down the street, they'll probably say it's because I'm white. They'll probably say I have no culture.
But you know, I think that's the way it is. And it's just one thing that we'll have to learn to accept because no matter how hard people try, it will always be there. We can work as a human race to make that acceptance more tolerable, I believe that. I know I don't come from a very racist part of the world, so I wouldn't know the whole story, but that's my theory. Acceptance that full acceptance will never come to be is going to have to be the best we can all do. But full acceptance is a long time coming, so I think there's still a lot we can all do.
As for the civil rights movement for the "white" race, I'm inclined to agree. I see reverse discrimination (discrimination against the "majority") as becomeing much worse than it already is. I do see myself as being somewhat mistreated, as affirmative action kind of stuff holds me back from being able to achieve my full potential.
Martin Luther King Jr. had it right. He didn't just call for the equality of black men to white men, he called for it of black men and white men. That is, everybody's equal. Stuff like Affirmative Action doesn't follow that, and personally, I think that's one aspect that's crap.
But then again, like I said, I don't know how horrible racism is in other parts of the world. This is just my attempt at an objective outlook.

My mom is a lot racist, when I was growing she would call the black people the n word, and I would always wonder why she did that. I never had a hard heart like she did. My dad always dive down in embarrassment when my mom did that. I don't blame him, hearing his wiffe call other people the n. Its wrong. When I was in fifth grade my white teacher taught black history and she told me, '' Debra, don't ever call a black person a n. THey are just like us same color of blood.
I was like then why my mom do? She explained things alot clearer.
From that day on, I understand. People can be so mean. Other races have the same color of blood.
Maybe one day there will be peace from racism.

Hmm I'm a bit like Triam_Paris, I used to totally stand up against Racism and I even wanted to pursue a Career that involved fighting Xenophobia in Scotland. I am a Mixed Race Kid (Although If you saw me you'd think I was white unless you identified my facial bone structure) and I used to be totally sensitive to Racism. I was an Anti-Racism Fanatic, I read all the Major Civil Rights leaders Auto-Biographies and signed Petitions against Fascism and Xenophobia. That All changed last year I guess, when I was watching the news; There was story about a Palestinian Kid who was Shot while praying in a Mosque and I couldn't hold back, I squeezed my remote in my hand so tightly that the Battery hatch broke and I threw it at my bedroom door and shouted "F****** Jews". I couldn't believe what I had done, It truely was the first time in my life that I said something nasty that was racially motivated. After that it all seemed too hypocritical for me to think about fighting Racism. I learned that Xenophobia is unavoidable in any enviroment and that the current affairs and events in our own lives cause the build up of Xenophobia. I am not Anti-Semitic now nor have I ever been, but for a brief minute I blamed the entire Hebrew Race for the actions of a few hardliners and I after all my preaching about Racism couldn't hold myself back! I totally dislike Racism and I try my best to fight it in situations that involve me, However I don't go around claiming to be some perfect Human being who has never thought something bad in terms of Race before.

I herd my mother tilling her friends that she and my dad was not predudist untill we moved to Memphis. She said that it was because, the black poeple walked around with a chip on there shoulders, just dairing a white preson to knok it off.
I thought that my parents had did a good job raising me to be color blind, untill I fell in love with a black girl. My father would not talk to me at all. My mother talked to her bother, who asked my mother if she was ready to give me up (to be the family out cast). She had to do a lot of thinking and came to the idea that she could not give me up.
It took some time, but now my mother and father love my wife and there two grandsons.
