That's what mods were for back in the day. We'd report them to Morphy and take care of the posts in our area. Then Morphy would deal with them as he saw fit. Everything seems to be getting kind of crazy now a days...

Seems like most of the mods have gotten lazy with reporting people.

I wouldnt necessarily say that. I just think that people are trying to fix problems that aren't really there.

That too. There are some mods that do nothing to people that break the rules though.

When you see that you need to bring it up to someone. There's Morphy, myself, T, Lindley, and Jadzia, hopefully you feel comfortable talking to atleast one of us. Also Thomas (chocho11) is a super mod. He could speak to someone for you.

I actually have before and I almost got warned for back seat modding. Decided I would keep quiet.

^This is an example of why I'm going to ask Morphy to make the postcounts only visible when checking your profile.

That's a good reason to make it viewable in profiles only.

THat's a great idea. Esp. when it's stated right there that it is a place specifically made just to raise post count. I agree that there seem to be a lot of inactive mods, but those of you that are active, seem to do a great job. I feel I could go to several of you if I ever had a problem. Keep up the good work!

I disagree, action should be taken against that user. Not action that affects all of us.

^I agree with that. Now, if were a much more widespread problem, I'd say tweak the system, but it seems to be working all right.

^That user had already been banned for three months, just was allowed back.

I can name 20 others off the top of my head who comment about post count, one every damn time I talk to them.

I believe it should totally be left alone. I kinda like getting to see how many posts that I build up in a certain day, .

Yeah, and funnily enough, you are the reason for my change in attitude about this. I had chosen leave it alone, but you made me change my mind, congratulations.

That's how it's done over at C99's site and it seems to work well there, but there a lot fewer members so that might make a difference as well.

It ties into the ranks, but can you get into PHPBB and program it to say for example that someone is either Experienced, Moderatly Experienced or a Newbie, since that's what the posts are supposed to show? It's pretty much what the ranks do, but it's a suggestion that might work....

Thats what it shows on Invisionfree. . I honestly think we should remove the post count totally. I mean, its just a number. Its for fun not for competition. Besides, post count shouldn't be your reason for posting. You should post to add to a conversation, not to add to your post count.

OMG! I just looked at my post count and didn't realise it was sooo high!

I thought I was still on about 3000 or something

The very fact that you dug up a topic that hadn't been touched in over a month, and basically spammed, really speaks for itself.

Quote:
 No spamming

Purposely and/or excessively spamming/posting the message board with frivolous, senseless, vacuous, or empty messages to gain higher rank is highly frowned upon!

This includes such things as party posts, chain letters, two-word "I agree", "LOL" or "me too" responses, continually posting the same topic on a particular forum, posting the same question across several forums, quoting someone without a response, advertisements, chain letters, and pyramid schemes.

Remove totally please. I'm not surprised however, that only one other person feels the same way.
