PostWed Apr 21, 2004 5:44 pm    What Communism Really is

Communism is really a government system, NOT an economic system, unlike they teach in schools. It is a DICTORSHIP GOVERNMENT WITH EXTREME SOCIALIST IDEALS.
It is flawed--those that work hard get as much money as those that don't.
There are less choices and the government controls virtually all aspects of life.
NO COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT has EVER prevailed.
And finally, the USSR, although it lasted long, fell thanks to Reagan winning the Cold War. It wasn't just an arms and space race--it also was, probably moreso, a fight to see which government/economic system worked the best, and democracy/capitalism prooved to prevail...

People might say in a perfect world, communism would be great, but we dont live in a prefect world, and if we did, we would not need governemts or econemy anyway.

Captialism is best. Socialism is also flawed.

Communism is a "marriage" of extreme socialism and dictatorship.
Tell me ONE democratic country that has had a(n extreme) socialist economic system that has worked?

Just wondering - why the sudden attack on communism? I'm not defending it; it's just, I don't see why you bring up the subject.

It is not being attacked, we are just expressing our veiws about it, and some of them happen to be negative.

^Well, maybe you're right and it just seems like it's being attacked. I don't exactly have a positive viewpoint on that issue, but it's not extremely extremely negative.

Perhaps something that you are missing out on with your FACTS is the human element. Humans are self - interested and corruptible, the idea of communism is not a bad one in and of itself, however it is the implementation that is flawed. Human take advantage of other humans.

What Communism REALLY is

Emm No, we have 1 or 2 Reds on this forum (I'm a Socialist) so if you could change the Topic's Heading to WHAT I THINK COMMUNISM IS! you cannot speak on behalf of the entire forum so hence the title is flawed, to some Communism may be their Savior from Imperialism

Yeah Kate Janeway pointed something out about how Communism was being bashed (I'm not saying that it was bashed by anyone, not by Kate Janeway or me.) and that title DOES seem a little too one-sided too me, .

It is MY OPINION that this is what communism is...you don't have to agree with it, and I will NOT change it...

^That's true, but by straight off refusing to change the title, you're basically telling me that you don't care if you offend anyone and that you're not open to discuss and contemplate this topic. I'm sorry if this offends you or anyone else, but that is my opinion; it is not meant to provoke or insult.

You dont live in a communist country, so you DONT know what communism really is.

And your refusal to change the title just shows your ignorance to other forms of governments.

By the way, most of your information on what Communism really is, is wrong.

I appologize...If I offended you, I did not mean it...I just believe that this is what communism is...
And yes, Link, I DON'T live in a Communist society, but that doesn't mean that I can't disagree with it. And I am not "ignorant" of other government systems, this is what it is...But I will tone down my voice...I don't want any trouble...

Communism is the heart of evil in the world.

By limiting the rights of people, you're taking away the one biggest force of true good. Freewill.

"You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose freewill."

Good, nice calm way to put it, Mr. Lightning...

There are many people who believe in Socialist ideas.

((Just a suggestion, you shouldn't quote a song unless you know the deeper meaning behind it.))

Okay, I'm going to play devil's advocate here. What if, by limiting the rights of the people, you're allowing for more jobs, more chance at survival in the world today? I mean, it's nice to have free will and all, but you want to make sure that you (and your family) are alive in order to have such rights.

The idea of Communism is very very good but when you put it into practise, it just doesnt work unfortunately.

^This form of communism, yes. Actually, the barter system was very much like that, and I think we'd have been better off to stick with that. That way no one accumulates so much wealth that they have that much power over each others lives. Living to help each other is utopian, but still...

^Communism in this regard, absolutely not. It's basically capitalism by the state. Capitalism works. Communism in theory works, but unfortunately not in practice, (as has been said).
