PostFri Apr 23, 2004 8:46 am    It's St George's Day today!

Here in England every year on 23rd April we like to celebrate St George's Day.

And here's some information about it.

23rd April is St. George's Day. St. George is the Patron Saint of England however he wasn't English. It is believed he was born in Cappadocia ( now Turkey) around the year 280 AD. Legend has it that there lived a dragon in the bay of Beirut (near the town of Silene) which terrorised the local population. The king's daughter was finally chosen as a sacrifice to the dragon at which point St. George rode up on his white steed, dismounted and fought the dragon on foot. He finally dragged the dragon to the town, using the princesses girdle, and slayed it in front of all the towns people.

Do you live in England? If not, you can celebrate it if you have a skin condition

If you do, why don't you celebrate?

Happy St. George's day, even though I was born in Wales, have lived most of my life North of the border and also my parents are Scottish.
