Mid season 5, I believe. Around the same time First Contact aired.

At the end of season 4 their uniforms were still of the same style as when the series began. Sometime in season 5 sounds right. They definitely had the new uniforms before the Dominion War started.

Lindley's right, the Episode first aired after First Contact was released saw the switch of the Uniforms. One off-screen reason for the change was Voyager required the Suits used by DS9 Extras according to the DS( Companion

lol....good to know the Star Trek budget is still flying high. I never actually saw the uniform switch. Was it actually part of an episode or did they just appear in the new outfits?

I think they might have mentioned the switch briefly, but the only time I recall it being a major plot-point was in "By Inferno's Light", when Worf and Garak are in the Jem'Hadar prison, and they find Dr. Bashir......in the old uniform.
Meaning that he's been replaced by a Changeling for several episodes, at least.

they never gave a reason, but maybe they wanted to distinguish DS9 to VOY, cos they aired the same time.

I don't quite remember when, but after Bashir was captured by the Dominion, before he was rescued. at the that time, the founder impersonator had the new uniforming, while real Bashir still had his own, therefore Bashir was captured before Uniform change, this may help narrow doen.

In the episode where Sisko has an Orb Shadow (or whatever it was called), he's being examined by Bashir. The good doctor asks Sisko if "my uniform seems any brighter." This was a tongue in cheek way of acknowledging the uniform change. I can't remember the name of the episode, but it was the one where Sisko finds B'Hala, the anicient Bajoran city.

Speaking of the changeling Bashir, I heard in one episode he did surgery on Dax to save the symbiont. But at that time he was the Changeling. Is this true or not?

I know this isnt the same series but why didn't VOY ever change uniforms? That always annoyed me.

Why do they need to do most of the stuff they do in the middle of nowhere? You all make valid points, I just think it the crew would have looked cooler in the newer uniforms. Also it would be nice for continuity issues.

When they changed the uniformes, the original DS9 ones went over to the Voyager set where they were sorely needed. So there's probably some extra in Voyager who's wearing Captain Sisko's uniform!
