Trust me, it was an April Fool's joke. It was up on startrek.com on April 1st along with a few other jokes. Think about it normally for a second as well, why would they put Kirk on Enterprise!?

If you search the news archives you can probably still find them.
One of them which I found quite funny was one 'advertising' the upcoming 'Trek Land' (similar to Disney Land). Check that one out if it is still there...

There was a rumour Shatner was going to guest star as some kind of Alien being...but yet that was only a rumour. Shatner was asked about it on a chatline from Germany and he responded "I guess you will just have to wait and see". So I guess thats what everyone will have to do.

As much as I like Kirk, I don't think he should be on ENT...ever!
I'm sure any good writer could bring him in thanks to the writing device that is time travel. But I feel it'd be a gimmick.
I've only seen the first two seasons of ENT. It's good but I think it needs a little fine-tuning. I really think it needs to create it's own identity rather than try and be clever by bringing in characters and races not born or encountered until later series.
