Does anybody know how e-books work?
I was thinking about getting the e-book version of The Brave and The Bold as I only want to read the Voyager story - it is cheaper than paying 6-7 (UK) for the paperback (the e-book is only 2) but I'm put off by having to read it on your computer...can you print them off? Even so that would take up alot of pages...I suppose it would be better if you had a PDA...shame I don't.

I figure it goes with the stereotypical image the fans get...the majority are assumed to be 'geeks' who spend all their time in front of a computer and so won't mind reading a Star Trek story on a computer. It annoys me how the image of the minority of Trek fans is branded onto the lot of us. Grrrr...

Anyway, anybody had any experience with e-books? For the most part I'll be sticking to paperbacks but I'm tempted for these compilation-style books...

I had Homecoming on e-book... yes, you can print it out, but it does take a lot of pages. You can buy the actual book, but since it's cheaper not to have to print out pages it's cheaper to get the e-book. It really depends how much you use the computer

To be honest I'd rather just buy the normal book...It's too difficult to read the story normally when its all over countless sheets of A4.

Lol, in the end I never bothered with it.

I got a free Star Wars 'Ylesia' e-book from the starwars.com site. They're OK if you spend alot of time at a computer I suppose. Anyway, I ended up printing it all off...didn't realise it was 80 pages...

But it was OK since I'd never read the story before - and it was the last book I had to read in the NJO series lol.

It's cheeky though 'cos even thoough it was free, people are downloading it and then selling it on ebay lol!

I find it quite difficult to read books off the computer screen and I much prefer to have a paper version of them (although if they came in padd form I wouldn't mind ). I'm really glad they're putting the SCE books in paperback form!

Are the SCE books any good? I never got round to buying/reading any...mind you I pretty much abandoned reading Trek novels in favour of the Star Wars ones, should I say admit that here lol?

heathen!

I enjoy em. The paper books are basically a compilation of 4 e-books and with each story they deal with a new technical problem and you learn a little more about a member of the crew
