i have a good idea!
this series wouldn't be based on just one ship but a fleet. it wouldnt be a big fleet only consisting of about just over 3 ships maby. it would be set in the 2390's and the federation is exploring the beta quadrant. there would be no worm holes of caretakers to get there or anything like that. maby there could be one episode where they meet a race thats human but they aren't called humans. really it would be possible to be another species which is identical to humans.
