PostSun Apr 11, 2004 2:45 pm    Is William Shatners Wife no longer alive?

I dont know but I believe Shatners wife died a little after Deforest Kelley died.I remember hearing something about it.......from what I heard she was a alcholic and I guess she was drunk and then she jumped into the pool in there backyard and drowned.I could be mistaken can anyone help me clarify what happened to her?

Don't know about an alcoholic, but yeah she drowned in their swimming pool. I thought it was before Kelley died though.

The story is true. If you look on the net a while, you'll find lots of information. This is one of those:

Quote:
Police: William Shatner's wife found dead in home pool

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The wife of "Star Trek" actor William Shatner was found dead in the swimming pool of their home, an apparent drowning that authorities said they were treating as an accident. The distraught Shatner said she "meant everything to me."

Nerine Shatner, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene late Monday.

Shatner arrived home at about 10:15 p.m. and found her at the bottom of the pool, police Lt. Adam Bercovici said. Shatner dialed 911, pulled his wife out of the pool and administered CPR, but his efforts to revive her and similar efforts by emergency personnel were unsuccessful.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play was not a factor, Bercovici said.

"She was home alone for a short period of time and accidentally drowned while swimming in the family pool," he said.

"I arrived home and I found my wife at the bottom of the pool," Shatner said today outside his hillside home in the affluent Studio City neighborhood. "My beautiful wife is dead. She meant everything to me. Her laughter, her tears and her joy will remain with me the rest of my life."

Shatner, 68, appeared composed as he began speaking, but grew emotional and quickly went back inside his house.

The couple were married in November 1997. It was the third marriage for Shatner. His bride, then Nerine Kidd, was a former model.

According to an account of the wedding in People magazine, he vowed to her: "I pledge allegiance to you, Nerine, my queen." Referring to the ring he placed on her finger, he quipped, "When it is dark and there is trouble, you need but wave that bauble and there will be light."

Shatner is best known as Capt. James T. Kirk on the science fiction television show "Star Trek." He also appeared in several "Star Trek" movies, the 1980s television police drama "T.J. Hooker" and the reality-based show "Rescue 911." In addition, he has turned out a series of science fiction books.

The "Star Trek" cast also had reason to mourn in June, when DeForest Kelley, who portrayed the cantankerous and compassionate Dr. McCoy, died after a lengthy illness at the age of 79.

Shatner recently wrote a "spoken word" song about this. It's called What Have You Done.

Very sad, William Shatner seems like a genuinely nice guy too.
