THE HERO�S RETURN (DS9 FAN FIC)

((FAN FIC set on DS9, Note Unless you have seen "Far Beyond the Stars" and "Image in the Sand" you will not understand the whole "Benny Russell thing"))

CHAPTER 1


�Captain Sisko exists, he�s real, You cannot crush a Belief; I created him and he�s real!� Benjamin Russell started shouting as he made his way for the Mental Hospital�s exit.

�Nurse, stop that Man! Anybody Stop that Man! He�s gone totally insane we�ve never seen him this crazy!� The Doctor shouted, while running; he was determined not to let Benjamin Russell escape the hospital, they had done so much work with him and almost had him cease to believe in this Deep Space Nine.

Benny Russell ran as fast as he could, he pushed everything in his way away from him; and headed for the Door into the next ward �He�s real Damn it! Can�t you all see, I created him and so he�s real!� Benny Russell leaped over the Medical Trolley being pushed, however his foot got caught causing him to fall on his face.

�We�ve been over this Mr. Russell, you and I agreed that this Mr. Sisko, and his crew were a figment of your Imagination. We agreed that they were your way of getting away from the harsh reality of the Inequality, Negroes in America suffer right now� replied an entirely unconvinced Doctor, The Doctor was called out to by a Nurse who appeared in the form of the Female Shapeshifter.

�We�ve called for the Police, Doctor; here they are!� The Nurse told the Doctor, Two Large and mean looking Detectives showed up. One of them bore an uncanny resemblance to a Vorta Character known as �Weyoun� the other looked like the Cardassian adversary to Sisko, �Dukat� both were characters created in Benny Russell�s Deep Space Nine. �I take it, this is your renegade mental patient?� Asked one of the officers.

The Doctor replied in a relieved voice, after seeing the officers �Yes it is, his name is Be�� he was sharply interrupted by once of the officers �Benny Russell, yes we�ve had a run in with Mr. Russell a few months back� said one of the officers while smiling.

�A Run, in that involved the breaking of my Ribs and the severe Injury of my legs� replied Benny Russell in a sarcastic voice.

�That�s enough Lip, from you; Unless you would like to taste the hard end of my Night Stick� one of the Officers sharply shouted at Benny while glaring at him

�Did I say, I wanted to be hit with a Night Stick?� replied Benny Russell meeting the Glare back, with his eyes

The Two Police officers started to get angered by Benny Russell�s comments and felt they needed to put him in his place; �A Colored Person should never talk to an officer like that,� both Detectives thought.

�Alright Doctor, I suggest we find a private room for Mr. Russell here to discuss his problems with us. Somewhere quiet where he would bother no one else, If you know what I mean� Officer Mulkahey said while Grinning, Benny Russell was dragged into a room, where Officers Mulkahey and Ryan beat the daylights out of him.

�Had enough yet Mr. Russell?� asked Officer Ryan, smiling both officers left the room dropping their burning Cigarettes on him. The Doctor from Benny�s Ward then stood there smiling, he walked over to Benny�s Bleeding and Bruised body, kneeled and whispered �You�re not leaving this place, until the world of DS9, Sisko and Bajor ceases to exist from the furthest corners of that twisted mind of yours. It�s totally unrealistic that a Colored man such as yourself would even dream up a world with Colored Space Captains leading his People� The Doctor started Laughing looking back at Benny's helpless body. The Doctor left the Body there and headed towards the Reception. �Should I take him for some medical care Doctor?� asked the Nurse. The Doctor smiled at the Nurse and replied �No leave Mr. Russell where he is, that�ll teach him, he�s not gonna get out of here with his current attitude. Don�t worry he won�t be able to walk for a while he�s going nowhere� Both the Nurse and Doctor (Female Shapeshifter and Jem�hadar First) walk off laughing.

�They�re Real!�.� said Benny Russell in a faint voice, he suddenly got up and headed for a Wheelchair that was left in the corridor, putting his lifeless body into the chair, he wheeled his way to the exit. �Free!!!!� was all the Doctor and Nurse could hear, but when they turned back, they were too late; Benny was wheeling his Body out of the Hospital. �Free!!!� Benjamin Russell cried as his Body wheeled out the exit.


�Free!!!!� Captain Benjamin Sisko, awoke in his Runabout inside the Wormhole crying, then he realized and said. �Wait a Minute, I�m not Benny Russell, I am Benjamin Sisko the Emissary of the Prophets and I know what I have to do, I know what I'm here to do� Sisko headed to DS9. �I just hope I�m not too late� Sisko said to himself as he arrived to see the Station.

Wow, this is quite a challenging story idea you've given yourself. For those of you who haven't seen the episodes mentioned, the actors from the series played Humans in the Benny Russell world, and we saw them all without the makeup on.

Pah-Wraith, You've done very well with a difficult idea like that. Using the same actors is easy to do on TV, but when you're writting, how do you convey that the artist is the same guy as Martok? In the story, you've commented on the similarities between the Human character and the DS9 counterpart. You might also try writing the Human character as though he is the alien version. For example, the detective played by jeff Combs (Weyoun) might be written as:

"Please, Benny, we trying to help," said the detective, holding his hands out in a non threatening manner. But the insincere smile on his face betrayed his true feelings. Benny backed away. The detective lowered his hands and took a step forwards. "Can't you see that this is for the best? these Sisko delusions, they have to stop."

In other words, write it as though it is Weyoun, and then just change the name. That way you keep the Weyoun character, and that can tell a lot about who the character is who is speaking.

Also, watch your capitalization, you've made a few little errors here and there. But, all in all, I think it's a great start to a story. Keep going.

Thanks, you're the first person to comment on this story I wrote a while ago. I guess I'll add another Chapter which will feature slightly more familiar Characters to ppl who have only watched the occasional episode.
