Thu Mar 11, 2004 5:36 pm Al-Queda Attacks Again this time in Madrid Spain |
|
From Cnn.com
Rescue workers remove bodies at the Atocha train station.
Spanish officials blamed the Basque separatist group ETA for Thursday's blasts in Madrid that killed at least 192 people, but investigators also explored a lead with Arabic and Islamic links. A London Arabic-language newspaper said it received e-mail from a group affiliated with al Qaeda that claimed responsibility but intelligence officials discounted the claim.

I hope that you are being sarcastic, if not....well it will be interesting.
May God Bless those who lost loved ones in this act of terrorism, and let it remind us Americans and the rest of the world that the issue of terrorism has not dissapeared and this is still a major threat.

Spain knew something was going down during the Christmas haliday. They caught some ETA members wanting to place bombs at some train stations in Madrid. So it was just a matter of time for them to strick again. However, it's more and more likely that the ETA has nothing to do with this attack.
We'll just have to wait and see what the investigators have to say.

They were upping theier alert level for quite some time now. The French government got a few letter some months ago from some terrorist group saying: "We have placed different bombs under the train tracks spread across the whole country." The terrorists didn't specify how many bombs or where. So the French are now physically examining and checking every single kilometer (of mile) of train track, across the country!
After the attack on the trains in Madrid, and if I was France, I would be scared too! Double check every track. Make that tripple check.

ETA is the acronym of the Spanish phrase 'Euskadi ta Askatasuna'. Translated freely to English it means: 'Bask Separatist Movement'.
The ETA forms an armed independence organisation. The members fight to try and make Basque (a piece of land which is now still part of Spain, it's between France and Spain) independant.
I believe the ETA was formed around 1986. So far, without counting this last attact, the ETA have killed about 800 people. It's the most violent organisation of western Europe.
BTW, the correct spelling St. Niklaas. You still have family there? You speak Dutch?

Sympathies to all the famileis and friends of the innocents killed in Madrid. Unusually for ETA they have said a few times that it was not them who did it, which suggests that it may be other terroist groups that did it. But does it really matter? I mean al those ppl are dead, the only reason it does is that so the families have an organisation or person to direct their anger 2wards.

The people who did this should be punished. So yes, it does matter.

Symbolically speaking, I think it's just a tad too coincidental.

There are going to be comparisons made, and "coincidences" found for every attack associated w/ Al Quaeda for quite awhile.

That's true. What I don't see is why there should be any attacks at all.

Well, if you beleive in Illuminati (shadow government), then you would know that this is a part of their plan to turn Muslims and Christians against each other and eventually it will bring us towards WW3, which is one of the ways for Illuminati to reduce the number of people on Earth (population control)... you can call me crazy now

I think this is most likely to be Al' Quida as it's not the style of ETA. It still could be them as in the last year or so a large number of the leaders have been captured and so a bunch of nutter's that are really young are now in top places. It's not really their style though and would have been difficult for the organisation to carry out the attacks with such presicion.
