People here can spell and use grammar properly.

The reason I "dumped" you was because I have someone in real life! It's so good. Sorry if I broke your heart....

I think you may have been talking to my Dad on MSN that day... Besides, as we all know, 2 more years, (But if he keeps dissing Murray, I'll have to deck him, )

I don't think I was talking to your dad. Also what was that about 2 more years? T, you better get me tickets for that game as well.

^An example of periods before smileys. See how disruptive the periods are? A comma is to slow you, to warn you of a possible change in direction, a period is a full stop. The . Makes you stop the thought, and then see the smiley. A , continues the thought, and includes the smiley, Get it?

^Ok, that whole thing completely confused me. Still, you used commas before most smileys. Good job, .

Urgh, Josi! You were so close! (No period after the smilie, just a comma before it, )

You know, I've got to disagree with that. How is it correct grammar to have a sentence and then a comma and then nothing after the comma but a smiley? This looks weird to me,

^Yet you just did it, A period after a smiley is also a full stop, but it looks so incredibly stupid. Besides, generally smilies are used to enhance, or to express what is being said, or to say it by itself, like this,

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this topic. Some of the posts here are really something. It's great to have a thread where we don't have someone posting in what might as well be ancient Klingon!

Hello people, today I started my first day of work at McDonalds. It was pretty fun for the most part. It was training; I really start working working this Thursday and all of spring break next week. There were only two people that were called back, and Im surprised that I was among them. The other person was a High School drop out, so I think that I may have some edge on getting a promotion before her. I set it up so I get a 20-hour week, plus my school life. 5pm-10pm M-F and 12pm-10pm on Saturday and Sunday. The starting pay is $6.00 an hour, which is really great. Most of my friends get about $5.75 and they work at groceries stores.
