Chapter One

"Hey, B'Elanna, where ya going," asked Tom Paris.
"To the mess hall to get some coffee," said B'Elanna Torres.
"Good, I'll go with you,' said Tom.
"Fine, whatever," said B'Elanna more harshly than she intended.
"Are you okay honey," asked Tom.
"Soryy, I'm just having a bad day, and I have a major headache," said B'Elanna as she sat down.
"Why don't you go to sickbay," said Tom.
"I think I will," said B'Elanna taking a sip of her coffee.
She got up and walked out of the mess hall.

"Well, there's nothing seriously wrong with you, just a little to much stress," said the Doctor, "with you being pregnant and working the hours you do in Engineering, your body can't handle it."
"Well what do you want me to do, it's not like we can just call Star Fleet and tell them to send another Chief Engineer, hell if we could I'd be in jail now not married and pregnant," said B'Elanna.
"Well be that as it may, your staff in engineering is more than capable of getting along with out you for a few more hours a day," said the Doctor.
"Fine," said B'Elanna.
She got up and started to leave sickbay.
"Where are you going," asked the Doctor.
"Back to engineering," said B'Elanna.
"I don't think so, you need rest, so you can go back to your quarters and rest or you can stay here with me and rest," said the Doctor.
"Fine, I'll go back to my quarters," said B'Elanna.

~>~Torres to engineering, Celes you're in charge today~>~
~>~Yes ma'am Celes out~>~
"Lt. Torres, can you help me with my engineering homework," asked Marsoty, one of the borg children.
"Sure," said B'Elanna.
They went back to B'Elanna's quarters and sat down at her computer.
"Okay, what are you studying," asked B'Elanna.
"The parts of the warp core," said Marsoty.
"Wow, I didn't study this untill my second year in the Academy," said B'Elanna.
"Well Seven says we should learn it now, she says there's no piont in waiting," said Marsoty.
"You know you're probably gonna be the youngest person to graduate Star Fleet Academy," said B'Elanna.
"How old were you when you graduated," asked Marsoty.
"Oh, I dropped out of the Academy," said B'Elanna.
"Why," asked Marsoty.
"I thought nobody liked me or wanted me there," said B'Elanna.
"Why did you think nobody liked you," asked Marsoty.
"Because I'm half Klingon," said B'Elanna.
"Do you think when we get back to the Alpha Quadrant kids will make fun of me, I'm an alien and part borg," asked Marsoty.
"I really don't know honey," said B'Elanna, "well we better start on your homework."
They were done half an hour later.
"Thanks B'Elanna," said Marsoty.
She walked over and sat down at the computer agian.
Suddenly it started beeping.
A message popped up.
It looked like an message board from the internet.
Trini100101> Hello B'Elanna.
B'Elanna read the message and stared at it for a minute before replying.
Maquis90101> Who's there?
Trini100101> My name is not important, what is important is whether or not you believe me, B'Elanna nothing around you is real, you are in a place called the Matrix.
Maquis90101> How do I know you're telling the truth.
Trini100101> look behind you.
B'Elanna spun around as fast as her pregnant body could.
A girl with a short brown bob cut and bright green eyes was standing infron of her couch.
"Hello B'Elanna," said the girl.

Chapter Two

"Who are you," asked B'Elanna.
"My name is Niya," said the girl.
"What are you doing in my quarters," asked B'Elanna.
"You answered my message obviously you wish to know what I was talking about," said Niya.
"Okay say I do, what is this matrix thing," asked B'Elanna.
"Everything around you, this ship, that chair the planet you were just exploring, it is all fake," said Niya.
"What do you mean fake," asked B'Elanna.
"Well, let me try and explain, you think it is the year 2370something, well it's not, we don't know the actual date but it's around a hundred years from now, this place is like your holodeck everything is fake, an image generated by your mind, the people are real but they aren't really here," said Niya.
"Wow," said B'Elanna.
"Hey B'Elanna, are you here," shouted Tom from the other room.
"I will give you some time to think about this," said Niya, "I will be back soon."
"B'Elanna, who were you talking to," asked Tom.
"Uh, the baby," said B'Elanna, touhching her stomache.
"Oh," said Tom, he walked over and gave her a kiss.
She sat down on the bed.
"So did you go to sickbay," asked Tom.
"Ya,"said B'Elanna.
"And..."
"Well it seem I have to much stress in my life, but hey that's what I get for marrying a fly boy," said B'Elanna.
"Yeah I guess," said Tom.
"So aren't you still on duty," asked B'Elanna.
"Yeah but I took a few minutes off to come see if you were okay, so get some rest," said Tom.
"Alright," said B'Elanna.
"See ya later," said Tom.
He kissed her then left.
"Have you made your decision," asked the girl.
"What decision," said B'Elanna.
"Are you prepared to leave the matrix," asked Niya.
"I don't know," said B'Elanna.
"You must make your decision now, they will be coming soon," said Niya.
"Who will be coming soon," asked B'Elanna.
"The agents," said Niya.
She held out her hand.
In it were two pills, a red one and a blue one.
"The red one will allow you to leave the matrix, the blue one will let you go back to life as it was before," said Niya.
"I have to choose now," said B'Elanna.
"The agents are coming," said Niya.
"Fine," said B'Elanna.
She grabbed the blue pill and swallowed it.
