Fri Mar 05, 2004 3:20 pm Martha Stewart Convicted of All Counts |
|
Quote: | NEW YORK (AP) -- Martha Stewart was convicted Friday of obstructing justice and lying to the government about a superbly timed stock sale, a devastating verdict that probably means prison for the woman who epitomizes meticulous homemaking and gracious living.
The jury of eight women and four men deliberated three days before convicting Stewart of all counts against her. The charges carry up to 20 years in prison, but Stewart will most certainly get much less than that under federal sentencing guidelines.
Her ex-stockbroker Peter Bacanovic, 41, was convicted on all but one count against him, making a false statement.
The charges centered on why Stewart dumped about $228,000 worth of ImClone Systems stock on Dec. 27, 2001, just a day before it was announced that the Food and Drug Administration had rejected ImClone's application for approval of a cancer drug, an announcement sent ImClone's stock plummeting.
Stewart and Bacanovic claimed they had a standing agreement to sell when the price fell below $60. But the government contended that was a phony cover story and that Stewart sold because she was tipped by her broker that ImClone CEO Sam Waksal was frantically trying to dump his own holdings. |
all I got to say is it's about time that justice finds its way the rich shouldn't get away with stuff IMO.

Keep in mind this is my opinion shes a freaky home decor person with her own line of crapy stuff at K-Mart she has a stupid TV show that shows how you can make art out of garbage. Shes also known for being a real Bit$$ one time after a episode of her show was over she blew up at her cast for making a small mistake so in other words shes a major Bit## like I said only my opinion.

I love Martha!!
Martha does stuff like decorating, cooking, gardening, etc. And it isn't garbage that you make her stuff out of garbage! I'd be b*tchy too, if I'd been through what she has (her life in general, not just the coroption charges). She must be doing something right if she's head of a multi-billion dollar company, industry, whatever.

She's a bitch. The only good thing she does is cook on TV.

Apparently she's a b*tch IRL. Alot of the things she shows are fairly cool, but 9 times out of 10 someone else came up with them. Glad she was found guilty, though, it was so obvious.

Now her show won't be on hopefully. It is nice to learn all those things, but she was very boring.

no offence to all you Martha Stewart fans out there...but there are plenty of peopl who do as good a job as her...its just that they specialse in one area whereas she was a diverse buisness lady. So it aint gonna be a great loss if she does serve time for her crime!
