PostWed Mar 03, 2004 5:55 pm    what's wrong with just reading posts

some people on this site think that when your here you should post, but i think for the people who just want to read the posts and nothing more should feel free to do so. i myself love to read the topics that people make, and if i feel the need to respond i do so. but most of the time i don't feel it nessesary to post so i don't, and i don't think that there's anything wrong with that

This is the first time I have ran into people saying this. I feel that there is nothing wrong with it because its posted on the internet that millions upon millions of people have access to. If you just like reading its ok.

what is the point of coming onto the board if you don't post? Where is the fun in that?

I read quite a lot as well, and don't usually post in discussions...if I have something relevant to say, I do, but otherwise, I keep 'quiet'.

the "fun" is in the experience of a forum, meeting other people who think like you do, the feeling of family, thats where the "fun" is

Lurkers! I used to be a forum lurker. Of course I realized that actually posting was a whole lot more fun than "lurking".

The point of joining is to discuss your opinions... sure, you can read, but you're not really getting involved in the discussions, which is the whole point. Having said that, I do tend to read lots of topics and only post in one or two.

I think there's nothing wrong with either opinion. You don't have to post if you don't want to. I personally find it fun to post to people and talk about things, but not eveyone is the same. You shouldn't be bullied or annoyed because you don't though.

THen why join if you don't post aren't you suppose to stay active on the board? It's fun to post. But if you don't want to post then don't. Your free will, like our free will to post. But it's fun. But I don't reply to some post. Mostly all.

I'm failing to see the issue here. If you don't want to post, don't. No one will ever notice. Just one question, if you don't like to post, why did you create a topic, full of posts, to say so?

Were you responding to something in particular with this topic? The way you phrased the title and first post would seem to imply that there's some sort of ongoing crusade against lurkers, Did someone PM you or something?
