I think they should have explored who they were more fully. But I can undertand why they kept them mysterious. I'd just like to have known more about them.

I also would have enjoyed an episode like that. I also would have wanted to see the return of Kai Opaka, she told Sisko that one day their paths will cross. But it never happened.

You know it's interesting sometimes when they add the prophet things.

Very true, makes it unique and more in depth.

The prophets (and the Pah-Wraiths) were one of the stranger things about DS9. I think they could have explored their place in the universe more.

Were they Gods, as the Bajorans believe or were they energy beings as Starfleet contends? Maybe a little of both?

What is their relationship, if any, with similar beings in the Trek universe? How are they precieved by the Q for example? I'll bet the continium tends to look down on them because they involve themselves so much in 'biped affairs.'

I thought that they were well explained. The remaining skepticism is there for a reason, though. We should not have ever gotten a complete, logical explanation about all they were or were not. We know that they are of Bajor, we know they are not linear, we know they will get involved activly if necessary to aid Bajor, and we know that they existed in some scientific way, not just in Bajoran legend. Overall, I liked the presentation they got from the writing staff from Emissary to What You Leave Behind.
