I'm reading Contamination now, and it keeps mentioning Ten Forward...I gather that it is like, a bar on the ship, but was wondering if they have this room, AND their mess hall? I've never really heard it mentioned much on the show...

Ten-Forward is the bar/mess hall. Its where Guinan works, and its on the show fairly often.

When I first became a Trekkie I didn't know what it was. I read about it in one of the TNG books. Then, when I saw the show----get this----I was upset that it wasn't the way I imagined it!

I apologize for my sadly uninformed Trekkieness, Link.
LMAO--that's something I'd do Lindley...

The idea of Ten Forward was just great! That's where a lot of important scenes took place (apart from the usual sets like Bridge, Engineering, ...).

The Mess Hall of the Enterprise series is in that view the same.

10-forward first made it's appearance in Season 2 of TNG when they brought Whoopi on as Guinan. It's supposed to be on deck 10 on the forward part of the ship.

The thing that always bothered me about it is that the stars always look like they are moving AWAY from the ship instead of TOWARDS the the ship. Is the ship moving in reverse every time they show a scene from 10-forward's windows?
