I think Eddington's service and defection to the Maquis was one of my favourite story arcs. Both Eddington and Sisko thought that they were in the right, yet both often in the pursuit of each other brought more chaos. But i guess the Maquis thought that the ends justified the means.

Remember in the episode where Sisko was going to stop those 2 warheads from
de-facing cardasia well i don't know why Sisko should care about civilians because the Cardasians had already killed millions of Federation civilians it was a bad decision on his part to do that

But i think it is better to lead by example, even in war. And civilized cultures don't start a revenge campaign, just because they have the opportunity.
Garak could have ended the Founders, if he was let to fire the Defiant's torpedoes. But in that case maybe he should of done, but then i have just contradicted myself. I think DS9 did emphasize the point of "what are the rules of war?"

Worf wouldn't of killed Sisko though, Garak without question would.

There are rules in this modern world today, so it would not seem unlikely that they would have them in the 24th century.

Anyway, unwritten laws are just moral and ethical guidelines- like it is unhonourable to shoot someone in the back. Ask any self-respecting Klingon and he will tell you the conduct of war.

Yeah, like you were not supposed to shoot officers, or actually, just target officers, and take prisoner those who surrender, instead of just killing them.

I also liked the Maquis. While their tactics may not have been great, they were patriots fighting for what they beleived in. Much like alot of people in our history. I can't say that I wouldn't do the same if put in tht position, after all other courses of action have been exhausted.

yes I like them too and they much like many people in today's world but many things in this world that makes it hard to live but when you have a show like Startrek you can get away from the world for an hour or so

Well, Weyoun did come to the station before the war and spoke to Sisko. The Dominion didn't just come in guns blazing right away.

No he came to the station because Kai Winn was trying to make a treaty with the dominion to not have to figh them because they would of been ripped appart if she didn't

well, at least the Dominion did show a little diplomacy. More than the Dukat controlled Cardassians, that would have happily gone back to raid Bajor.
Damar was just walked over, when he was Gul.
I never did like Kai Winn though, i was glad she was (presumably) killed by Dukat.

I would have to agree about Kai Winn. I never really liked her, either. She was too selfserving.

i think despite what the prophets said about Dukat not being able to return, the writers should bring him back- in a film!!!
I think he is one of those villains that evrybody loves (now everyone will post messages on how much they hate Dukat!!).

I am pretty sure one of the writers once said that "In Star Trek, nobody dies"

Have you ever thought that if they couldn't get Patrick Stewart for the films, they could use Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins!
