PostTue Feb 24, 2004 9:50 pm    Is there to much Sex on Television/Net?

I wanted to bring up another very hard topic to talk about. I was watching TV the other day, and it was 10pm and i switched to Howard Stern. And what i saw was really bad for cable tv. Yes it was censored but there was female nudity there by a click of a remot on televison. IN my own personal view there should be no nudity on televsion in any kind. Even at the Superbowl there was nudity. I wish there was some way that we could go about getting some of the images off of the TV and off of the Net.

There should be some way to block out these sites off of an entire web broswer. and the only way you can view one of these sites would be to pay money. If that would happen(yes i know there at that already but still there is images out there) i think the world would be better off. Please give me your views and ideas about this hard topic. Lock it if you feel it is not 'User Friendly'

Even if you think you are a 'Mature Teen' no one under the age of 18 or even beyond that age should see any sexual images from pop ups or flipping channels on the family tv. If you dont agree with me then fine but it rots the brain so much until you get addticed. I am not additced to any of this because i try my best to stay as far away from this as i can. But i still get emails in yahoo, angelfire, hotmail(msn) that spam out this kind of internet junk. What people really need to do is whipe out the entire net and start from scratce again, that wouldnt be so bad.

I pay $100 dollars for 900 channels I think if I have to fork out that much green I should see whatever I want. Bring on the nudity if its at a acceptable hour (7pm-5am). As for the net there will always be nudity on it. I think that nudity is more accepted on the net because parents can enforce what their kids see by setting limits most browsers have restrictions. Oh and regarding Howard Stern he rules.

Who cares? Sex is perhaps the most important part of our lives. If you don't like it, then can't you just change channel? I'm also betting that most guys your age would also have p0rn on their computer. Hell, even I have it on mine!

^Like you don't...

When it's invaded primetime, yes. There are very few shows on now that you wold feel comfortable leaving your children alone in a room to watch, that weren't on the disney channel, and that's sad. Jeez, even King of the Hill has blatant nudity. Kind of sad. If you want to watch p0rn, go to playboy, don't make everyone else watch it, too.

Sex sells, that's why it's everywhere. Why was Paris Hilton the 3rd most popular google search in January? You know exactly why.

Source: Google survey.

But I agree that TV placement should be strictly regulated.

If they took all of the *beep* off the Internet there would be one website left, titled: "BRING BACK THE *beep*!!!"

Most Cable and Satalite companies give subsribers converters that normaly have rating blocks like the one I have you can block any program rating from G to TV-MA I think thats the best thing you can do if you don't want your kids to see anything offensive.

I was thinking there's too little nudity/homoerotic scenes on tv. They censor every stupid thing, even though they place it at the 12.00 slots. Even cable is horribly censored heck, some of the channels on cable are even censored worse then the local ones.

I disagree with you 100%. The censors that tv channels have now are to week. What Jeff did say that they have them rated TV-G to TV-MA, which is a very good thing. But most tv's have only a 4 number code to reset the fields. Which both my sister and me have figurede out on 3 of out tv's. Which i think is a bunch of crud. If you know your parnets like you should you would be able to crack there code, inless it is completely random. Calbe shouldnt have nudity of any kind. Like Maquis says if you want to watch *beep* go to the playboy channel, which you have to pay with for satelight. And even if you have that you still have the very sam problem about it.

If your referring to me, well we've got different censorship laws. I'm clueless as to what that code thing is about, never used it, no need to. Maybe it is just me, but i had always thought cable was supposed to be well, not as restricted by censoship laws. I can't get playboy channel, seeing that i dont have a satelite, not as if my parents would ever allow that. I'm not asking for full frontal nudity anyway (not that i would object actually), i just dont think it would kill them to show a bit more skin, or homosexuals kissing, showing them under covers etc.

If you wern't referring to me, then well your free to ignore this post

Going further into a specific event, I do think that America went a little over the top when JJ flashed her breast at the Superbowl. Regardless if she did it on purpose/accidentally it's just a breast. I don't see what the fuss is about.

Strife, I was talking towards you on the post. Where are you from United Kingdoms? England? I could really care less, the same issue that is is over here in the states in the very same for you. You keep saying you want to see more nudity on television. Could i ask why that is? are you a perv? Do you like your everyday life looking at nudity? If thats so its really not the way to live. Go confess to god and he will forgive you(im not trying to bring in religion on this issue but feel free to). How old are you? Over 18? if so then fine, pleasure yourself in any way that you seem fit and be done with it but dont even try to bring more nudity and *beep* on television(i would laugh if you would be able to get anywhere on it either)

Kyre, The Janet Jackson stunt(which is old news now) was a veru huge deal weather or not you agree with me. There were millions of kids watching that(maybe more). Im 16 and i still dont wont to see nudity. It suprised the hell out of me when i was watching the superbowl. Some already said that many kids my age look at *beep* and have it saved on their computer, nbot like i havnt looked but the most inportant thing is to wait for it after your married. The JJ statement was on Broadcast tv, which she should get sued or somthing huge(i have no idea if she has or hasn't) to teach her a lesson.

It was a total joke the way that was reacted to. Want to blame someone? Blame Janet and Justin. The people going after CBS are after one thing. Money. They don't care about you. It was a damn stupid stunt, but it got her exactly what she wanted, publicity. New CD/Video coming out, and she accidentally exposes herself on one of the most watched programs of the year? Please. It was stupid.

Stunt? I would have to agree with Theresa on that one. It i was all by accident then the star wouldnt have been there in the first place. CBS and CNN both have had Janet and Justin saying sorrying about the event and that CBS and the NFL had nothing to do with it, im sure that the NFL didnt know about it but CBS may have known something about it. I still waiting to see if they are going to do anything else on that issue. What i have heard now is that all live events on CBS were going to be later than "live" to be able to censor out lang. and more of the nudity if it were to happen again. I guess we will only be able to wait and see how they take care of it. it has died down from the superbowl though.

Yeah, me too. But there's nothing we can do about it. This is how life is. We must endure it. Might not bother me that much, but it bothers some I know. I am strict parent so I will watch who my kids friends are. I guess I am overprotective. In these days a parent has to be overprotective. I love my kids.

Hmm, I guess us Europeans have a different view on sexuality and nudity on tv, at least I have that impression. For instance, I'm really not shocked when I see a totally naked lady on tv and I coudln't care less really. It's real easy to chance the channel too, I'm sure one second of nudity won't scar you for life.

Like the Janet Jackson boob thing, it's natural. Part of a body you know.

Anyway I keep on yakking. My point is, sex and nudity are natural, even on tv.

Yeah, I'm from Europe too and that's how we all think about it over here. We have a totaly different view as most Americans do. I'm not saying that one is better or worse than the other, don't get me wrong...

We see naked men and women all the time, on commercial breaks on TV, posters on the street walls, posters for erotic parties and things like that. I don't even look at it anymore. Same goes for the children here. It's just a normal part of life. Everybody has sex. Everybody has a naked body undereath those cloths. No big deal.

If it's just showing a naked body (male or female) without insinuating any sexual behaviour, anything goes for me.

Oliver

Some people are crazy, if they don't want to see it, they can always change the channel. Well it really don't bother me. I don't watch tv that much unless I watch Enterprise or reruns of Voyager on tape. If I don't want my kids to watch, then I am the parent so they won't watch it. I am overprotective mom so I watch who my kids friends are and meet their parents. If they are not right then oh well, just hope my kids make the right choices. I guess can't protect them from all stuff. THey will learn it from somewhere.
