Tue Feb 17, 2004 2:33 pm How about a Hobbit movie? |
|
I was wondering if anyone else out there is hoping they make a live-action movie based on the Hobbit.
They definitely need to make one - the cartoon version that's out now is sooooooo dated with the folk music that it actually hurts to watch it. Very 70's of them.
Imagine how well they could portray Smaug with CGI! I get goosebumps thinking about it.

Ian mckellen was on Tv in the UK and said he would love to do it and so does peter jackson , but new line don't have the rights to it, so he said we'll need to wait and see what happens after all the legal stuff is sorted out

Based on the success of LOTR I think it highly likely a film based on The Hobbit will crop up sooner or later. Preferably sooner, but who knows?

"Think Tank."
He's the humanoid that tries to get 7 to join them, then he tries to steal her and destroy Voyager by sending some other aliens after them.

even though it would be great to see a live action version of "The Hobbit" done, I don't think It's going to happen.
Jackson was ok'ed to do 3 movies "The Lord of The Rings" Trilogy, Tolkein's children who have full control of the rights to make it a movie said only 3.
Beside's "The Hobbit" was a bedtime story Tolkein wrote for his kids as they grew up. It's deeply personal to them, and I think they don't want it seen done in the way LoTR was done.
MAJOR sections of LoTR were taken out, just to put in more battle sequences and CGI effects.

I don't know if it'll happen or not, but i'll sure like to see it.
Does 'The Hobbit' take place before the whole LoTR story?

Well, Peter Jackson isn't well known for children-oriented stories. Before LOTR, almost all his movies fall under the category of Horror/Gore. Perhaps it would be better if someone else made 'the hobbit' movie, i.e. Disney.

i guess it all depends on what the storyline is and how its 'done', it could turn out a real yawner, but it also has potential. as gandalf would say... "hobbits really are amazing(or is it surprising?) creatures"
