PostMon Feb 09, 2004 5:46 am    Gates McFadden's bare feet

No-one here, or anywhere, will probably have the slightest inkling of an answer but I'll ask anyway.

Does anyone know what shoe size Gates McFadden takes?

I was thinking about her appearance in the episode "Sub Rosa" where she was barefoot during the latter half of the episode. Her feet seemed a little bit bigger than the average size for a woman. Not that there's anything wrong with that-I just wondered what size she took.

Thank you

Starfleet Dentist

Yep, that was it, DemonClassY. I noticed nothing unusual about her feet, but then again, I don't usually pay attention to her feet, so I wouldn't have noticed anything...

I seriously doubt there's ANY site out there with shoe sizes of famous people. I doubt I'll ever find the answer but it's worth trying.

Size 40 could be right. I had a magazine where Gates was barefoot, I think it was an old copy of the UK Star Trek Poster Magazine. Or it might have been an American TV guide where there was a barefoot photo of her.

Pity it didn't have her shoe size in the issue.

Hehe...this is a little bit weird, but hey.

My mum does some artwork, and there's a rule that says that when you draw a foot it should be the same length as the elbow to the wrist of the persons arm. If you're flexible enough you can try, and it does work. So maybe if she has abnormally long forearms she'll have abnormally long feet...... yes.....ahem.

She once said in an interview that she was an ugly duckling at school, that her hands and feet were really big, but she grew into them. I dunno, she's quite tall (taller than Patrick Stewart, haha) so in proportion her feet probably aren't all that big.

Why are we talking about feet again? Feet are weeeeeird......

Interesting observations there, Saoirse Granger.

I've browsed a few magazine covers on the 'net and found that Gates was barefoot on a 1994 edition of Entertainment Weekly. I'm gonna guess she's a size 9 (UK).

Why are we talking about feet, you say? I don't know. What strange individual brought up the subject?

Seriously, I think feet are interesting to talk about. They're an unusual part of the body and not as ugly as people would say. I hear people say, "Feet are ugly" or "I hate talking about feet". Why? Feet look good.

Be proud of your size 10 feet, ILoveHarry.

Still no luck on finding out Gates foot size. Will I ever find out?

It works, folks.

By the way, this interview with Gates McFadden saying she was the ugly duckling at school. Saoirse, do you know what magazine/book that was in, please? I used to collect every TNG magazine going in the early 90's so I'm assuming that quote was from a book.

Thanks

I think I read that too. I'm pretty sure it was a TV Guide interview.

I can't argue with that. I went out with a lady once who had a UK size nine feet. And they looked great!

The Gates barefoot photo was from Entertainment Weekly September 1994. I'm not sure if it was a cover photo but it has her feet on the front. They look quite nice, actually.

And how would you know that, Ziyal?

The actress with the cutest feet in the world would probably be Jennifr Aniston.

The Trek actress with the cutest feet would either be Gates McFadden or Marina Sirtis. Maybe.

Saoirse, good luck with finding it but if you can't, don't worry too much.

I've been browsing a few non-fiction TNG books in stores to find that quote of Gates. I'm sure I'll get lucky soon.
