Assignment: Anaphoric List Poem

It's Just Another Day

It's just another day, like any other day.
It's just waking up, not wanting to leave bed.
It's just slowly getting dressed, struggling for warmth.
It's making an effort to tie your shoes.
It's just putting up your hair, trying to beat the clock
Because you know that that 41E will be here in five minutes.
It's just running out the door to catch the bus, and then remembering
What you forgot after the bus starts moving.
It's just crossing the Smithfield St. Bridge knowing that you
are almost there.
It's just walking from Wood St. to school in the bitercoldness
Of downtown Pittsburgh.
And then feeling the first bit of warmth touch gently glide
Against your face as you walk through the fornt doors of CAPA.
It's just climbing the steps to lose use of your lungs in the end,
Then standing at your locker watching everybody on their lap tops,
And drinking their Star Bucks.
It's just seeing the same people in the same spots every morning.
It's just hearing that 15 minute bell ring as it taunts us
With the faint yet noticable sound, repeating four times.
It's just walking into your Block A class seeing everyone talking
And waiting for Ms. Casey to arrive.
It's just sitting down in your seat, seeing Ms. Casey walk into class,
You sigh, take a deep breath and say to yourself,
"It starts here!"

Assignment: List Poem

I Envy You

Envy is sitting in the living room,
Watching Star Trek
And seeing everyone that gets to be near
Lt. Thomas Eugene Paris.
Envy is spying the prettiest girl in school
Holding hands with your crush.
Envy is watching "It's Good To Be"
Constantly reminding you that
You don't have that
Five million dollar house,
Or the Cadillac Escalade with the 22" rims,
Or millions of dollars for guest starring on a TV show.
Envy is seeing all the skinny legs and stomachs
Making their way down the hall being exposed
With no care because they know that they have the bodies to do it,
Or when I watch them in gym class
Carelessly wearing their shorts and showing off their thighs
And not knowing that I'm
Sitting in the corner in pants
Wishing that i had the legs to do that.
Envy is visiting my second cousins that live
In a mansion who don't have any idea
What it is like lving in a duplex in da' ghetto.
Who have brand name shoes and clothes,
Who have their own private bathrooms,
Who still have their father under the same roof.
Envy is seeing a family that has stayed together,
Who have parents that have been together
For twenty or more years
And don't have the memory of their father
Ever saying goodbye.

Assignment: We read the world famous poem "Jabberwocky" in class and was asked to write out own nonsence poems.
(By the way all of the words in this poem are real if you want to look them up, I just dont use them correctly.)

Hobnob

Along the Hobnob I spied
Balee standing there,
Opening eyes, tumult toes,
And a nape zwiebacking
Back and forth to plunk a timid leer.

When the zonk flambeau
Jabirurly struck the jaffna,
An omnibus creature ascended
From the quadriga and
Sigmunly astered the nape.

A cranny romp was the Hobnob.
The creel Balee, and the fini nape,
Vetching the nambypam.
And the jaffna continuously
Zwiebacking through the Hobnob
To cause a tyke.

But although the mooch was
Domiciley basalt,
the mooch was subject to
Yowl the zonky zing of flambeau.

And the Hobnob was
Saved and the nape was found.
And Balee yowled to jaffna
and they zwiebacked together with the fini mooch.
