As I recall, you made this post before, and it was locked.
Dude, it's simple.
Say the word "Computer", and the computer now knows to listen for a command.
And pressing the buttons, its just like you do on the keyboard. Its just a computer screen.
Also, dude, You need to start researching stuff on your own. I mean, this is basic stuff. I look at the posts, and most of them are yours.

hmm....the console is like a more advanced version of the touch screen? I wonder how there isn't a resdiue if they touch the consoles with dirty hands lol

Exactly. Think of an interactive touch screen. Thats pretty much what it is. You have a screen, that is capable of easily interchanging buttons. So it's better than a keyboard.

If the holodeck can create "holograms" that feel solid, why not a "holographic" console? Feels like you're touching something but you're really not.
Can't be broken, would not explode, never needs cleaning, and no residue from human hands (or alien whatevers). Human hands leave behind a really corrosive, nasty, greasy mess. Who knows what alien whatevers would leave behind.
