OK now we all know im gona make an ass of myself here bacause A)Some one has probly alredy done something like this and 2) some one might come up with a logical answer but any ways here we go.
Now you got your "Photon" torps and as we know photons are what makes up light. therefore photons go the speed of light. So why the hell do these "photon" torpedos slowly creep across the screen? If someone can come up with a logical explaination I'd like to hear it....heh heh and show up my super smart friend peter.

Well, A) this should be in Star Trek Tech B) Photon torpedoes can go at warp speed. Maybe when the ship fires them when they are out of warp, it's so the viewers can see them Let's all try to remember....... this is just a show

It's just the name of the torpedo...probably has no scientific backing.
It's not made of photons, basically.

photon torpedoes are yer average matter/anti-matter warheads and are not made out of light, dont really know where the name comes from, prolly just trektechtalk then their speed: from my pov that there r no drive systems or motors of any kind on a photon torpedo, so logicly it has no means to accelerate, its simply catapulted from the torpedo launchers, so the speed of the torpedo would be ejection speed + speed of the ship (impulse or warp )it's fired from, since there is no gravity in space the torpedo can keep going at that speed forever ... theoreticly
ps. sorry for the bad grammar

maybe it's a nickname, like they do with missile systems now:
aim 54--> phoenix
aim 7 --> sparrow
aim 9 --> sidewinder
...

hello...
Well... have you considerd the distance of the ships??... it might look close but it's really far away... they can be severall tusand kilometers away.. and that's becasue it look like it going slow... that is of course my thought...
so please write what you think...
