Part XVI

Jean-Luc Picard was sitting at the down town offices of Star Fleet medical. He was looking over Miles O�Brien because the rest of his crew was away on the mission. Miles family were contacted and said that he was going to Be alright. His memory was slowly coming back to him which was a very good thing. He now knew who he was and where he was. Doctor Crusher, Head of Star Fleet Medical, wanted to keep Miles there for a little time longer to ensure his safety.
�Miles, I know you want to get in a shuttle pod go back to the worm hole at deep space nine and join your crew. I cant let you do that, that�s why I took you back to earth. Your family should be here within moments and when they arrive Im sure you will feel 10 times better.� Said Beverly Crusher.
Miles looked at her as if she was crazy.
�I can not stay here while my friends our out there! They could be��.� Dr. Crusher interrupted miles. �Miles if you keep this up I will be forced to put you in a holding cell. If you launch a one-man ship into the gamma quadrant you will not survive! Im trying to save you from your self.�
Miles looked away, as if he was going to start to cry. �I know your right Beverly, and I know if I would go I would die. But I still would like to know if they were ok.�
�Miles ill tell you what I can do. I will send out another ship, and ill tell them to look into the Nightingale and see of there all right.� Said Jean Luc Picard from across the room. �Ill send out the Enterprise, Captain Riker has been back and we have not given him a new mission.�
�That would be very nice of you Admiral.�

Beverly Crusher and Jean Luc Picard walked out of the room where Miles O�Brien was. �It seems that we are going to be having a little Reunion with the old crew, wouldn�t you say Jean Lu?� She gave a little Snicker. Admiral Picard did his best now a days to keep away from all of the old members of the Enterprise because he couldn�t dare to tell them that he loved them. They were infact his own family. His children. The only Members that were still on the Enterprise that were there years ago were Will Riker and Wesley Crusher. Wesley has had a very interesting career. He was now a Lt. Commander and he was the Chief Helm Officer of the Flagship still.
�You could call it a Reunion I guess Doctor, but this is only for Mile�s sake.�
�Oh get Real Picard, You can�t wait to see Will or for that matter Wesley. You have been avoiding them for years. Sending the enterprise out in mission as far away as the gamma quadrant. And for the love of god sending them to go into the delta quadrant to talk to Ambassador Neelix! You have been running wild and you need a break. I suggest, no I say under my authority as Chief of Star fleet Medical you need a break. Im going to send you to the enterprise for there next mission, and there is nothing that you can say about it.�\
Jean Lu looked towards her. �You�re absolutely right, Miles can not go into the Gamma Quadrant alone in a one man shuttle.� And with that Admiral Picard turned and walked off.
�Your cant avoid me Jean-Lue, I see you every day. And my order still stands!�

Captain John Lars looked at Commander Bashir for a while. He knew in his heart that he had to do what he said. If they stayed there longer than they had to they would get hit sooner or later by Mr. Rally�s Plasma Bubble. Giving in to an Acting First Officer on a Mission that was this important was not a thing that John Had liked to do very much.
�Alright Commander, you have me. I will take the ship back threw the Worm Hole. But im going to Stay in a Shuttle Pod and there�s nothing that you can say about that! You have the bridge Number one!� John Leaped out of the Captains chair and ran to the Turbolift.
�Shuttle Bay 1� Said Captain Lars to the Computer.�
Julian Bashir Jumped up also. He was faster than the captain and jumped into the turbolift right as it was shutting.
�I don�t think so John, that�s a suicide mission and you know that. Why are you so concerned about this?�
�Look Julian, take the ship out of here. There is more on stake here than you seem to see. If this fleet doesn�t make it I need to be sure when I warn them about it. And to be sure that they will be destroyed. Don�t worry about me. Im going to be all right. I need you now to do what those pips around your neck mean, I need to be the commander of this ship and get the crew to safety. I don�t need you right now seconding guessing me. We don�t have the time or the luxury to be talking. Now get the hell off this turbolift before I punch you!�
Julian looked at John and then he walked off the turbolift.
�Contact me as soon as you leave. Im not going to keep this ship here longer than needed just for you little mission.�
�Alright Commander.�
John Lars stepped off the turbolift a few moments later. He was at the south side of deck 13, where the shuttle bay was located. It would take only a short time for him to make the trip. He was moving faster than he did every day,. As you can see he was trying to make sure he was out in the next 60 seconds. John arrived to the shuttle bay and there was only one crewman on duty in that area.
�Crewman, Help me Prep Shuttle 2 for departure now!�
John Lars hurried to the other side while the crewman opened up the doors and started to assist the captain in prepping the shuttle.
�Make it has we have only 1 min till I have to leave!� John Lars finished the Departure Prepping and was finally ready to leave the Nightingale.
�John to Bashir, Im gone.�

John Lars watched as the shuttle bay�s Door opened to see a vast amount of space. The Plasma Bubble was getting rather large. And it was expanding at a speed that seemed faster than warp 2. John looked back over his shoulder to see that Nightingale going to warp back inside the wormhole. That may be the very last time that John will ever see the ship again. Captain Lars looked down at his controls he was watching the fleet and the plasma bubble. Something strange happened then. Something un expected. Another ship emerged from the wormhole. The enterprise.

XVIII

John Lars Contacted the Enterprise as fast as he could get his controls pressed out. They were not expected to be here. John Got a hold of Captain Riker.
�Captain, This is Captain Lars of the Star Ship Nightingale. I suggest that you go back into the worm hole before the Plasma Bubble hit your ship!�
�We have been given orders from Admiral Picard to come to your Aid. We saw the Nightingale Leave as we went in. And I now see why. Prepare for Transport!�
�No! You cant�� John was transported on to the Enterprise and not a second to late. The Plasma had expanded so much that the ship of the Jem�Hadar and John�s Own shuttle were in to much Risk to even try to enter the Worm hole again.
�Why the hell did you do that? I was going to make sure that they were all destroyed1�
�Captain. Stand down. If we did nothing then you would have been killed and then the Nightingale would have lost a great leader. Now were going back though the Delta Quadrant and there is nothing you can do or say about this.�

Will Riker turned to the Helm. �You set a course back to the worm hole and engage!�
The enterprise sped into the wormhole not a moment to soon. It was getting a habit that star fleet was in so much danger yet they keep getting out one or two seconds early.
John Lars sat down at one of the Guest seats on the bridge. He had been transported to the bridge rather than a transporter room. Reason was Will must have though I would have tried to re transport myself back onto the shuttle. Well Riker was right one more time. No wonder he got the lead ship in the fleet and I didn�t.
�Okay Will. What�s next?�
�Im planning on going to Deep Space nine and there you can meet up with the rest of your crew. We can find out more on the condition of Miles. Dr. Crusher, when I last saw her in a transmission was with admiral Picard there.�

The Enterprise jumped out of warp back in the alpha quadrant. The view of deep space nine was much of the same. The nightingale was there at one of the space docks. The enterprise went over to the ship at a low speed.
�Open a channel open to Captain Sisko.�
�Channel open sir� said Wesley Crusher.
�We have achieved John Lars. Meet us in the briefing room with Picard and O�Brien. Get commander Bashir there as well. We need to find out what to do next with this situation. �
�Understood captain.�

Part XIX

John Lars and Captain Will Riker got off of the Enterprise at Space Deck 5 on Deep space nine. Captain sisko wasn�t there to welcome them to the ship. Nor was anyone else. The main reason was the threat of a possible Dominion war. The plasma Bubble could have defeated the entire fleet of them but for some reason the Jem�Hadar always found a way around a defeat.
�Captain Lars, what do you think about your crew?�
�I think there the best in the fleet. I think there better than your entire crew, they should have gotten the enterprise and you very well know it.�
�That maybe. But do you think there all trustworthy? I mean after you lost Sharma Ronevick? Do you think there could be any other hidden spies on your Staff? Say that fellow T�Jar?�
�No, Im not certain anymore. I trusted ronevick as much as I trust you right now Riker. But were going to have to trust them.�
�Alright I want your entire senior staff and Wesley crusher off of my ship into the briefing room as well. We are the two lead ships in the entire fleet.�
�What do you plan on doing?� Asked John as they walked off the platform followed by Wesley crusher.
�I plan on saving the entire federation fleet without destroying any more ships. I Plan on destroy any threat of war that anyone and any spices may have against us.�
�The fleet that me and my ship saw in the gamma quadrant well out numbers the federation. If Mike Rally�s idea about the plasma bubble didn�t destroy them, there may not be any hope left in the federation.�
�If I be blunt, Captain Riker, I do no think there is anyway to destroy that big of a fleet alone.�
�Exactly John, Your really getting the hang of this captain thing.�
�And your plan is?�

Part XX

John Lars walked up beside Will Riker awaiting him to answer his question. The Federation at this time is not on very good terms with The Klingons or the Romulans. In fact the only people that are not in the federation all hate us, Besides the Vulcans. And Even if the Vulcans tried to team up with us the Jem�Hadar Fleet would still out number us and may even destroy them and us.
�Just wait Captain. You will soon meet Admiral Jean-Luc Picard and reunite with your Staff. And then were going to manufacture a plan that is worth more than a million bars of platinum. (This time and age, Platinum is worth money because of its rareness.)�
�Alright Will.�

Wesley Crusher Walked a little ahead of the two Captains, more so in a rush to see his own mother. She was going to be at the briefing meeting as well. It was in fact an entire reunion of the Crew of the Enterprise a few years ago. There was going to be Jean-Luc Picard, Will Riker, Beverly and Wesley and even Miles O�Brien in the same room again. It was almost if they were physic, because Beverley Crusher came down one of the corridors to meet Wesley before that had got into the meeting.
�Mom, I didn�t expect to see you here.�
�Where is Lars and Riker?�
�There coming, I went a little fast so I could say hello to you before we got down to bunisses again.�
�That�s sweet of you.�

Will Riker and John Lars came up behind them without them noticing.
�Good to see you Beverly.� Said Riker in a Quick but calm Voice.
�You to. This way.�
Riker followed Beverley down the hallway a little more till they came in front of a door. It was closed but it open to revile the entire staff of The Nightingale and Picard.
�Now lets get down to work.�

�As you all know, there has been a Threat to war Towards the Federation. We have been trying out best not to make it as public as possible.� Said Admiral Picard as The rest of the Staff Sat down at the hefty briefing table.
�Captain Lars and the Nightingale have been on the case for a little while but they seem not ably to get the Job done so Will..� T�Jar Jumped in with a rapid comment.
�Id like to beg your pardon Admiral, But the Nightingale has been working their tails off. And if it wasn�t for Mike Rally�s Plan the Jem�Hadar may have already been in the Alpha Quadrant.�
�Settle down T�Jar!� order John Lars with a narrow-minded glance.
�Lieutenant T�Jar, Chief Helm of the Nightingale, You do give a very good point. The mission for the Nightingale has been changing over and over again though time. But, there has been one thing in common; The Nightingale keeps coming back empty handed. Now end of Discussion, Im going to make this a team effort from now on, The Enterprise will assist the Nightingale in all of her mission of this much importance. We now have to think of a new way to defeat them. Are there Any ideas?� Asked Picard.
�Well first of all we need to go and investigate if the plasma bubble had any effect on the Jem�Hadar Fleet.�
�In all good time Ensign Rally.�

�Well, My first plan was to untie the entire Alpha Quadrant into a Federation.� Said Captain Riker
�Explain.�
�Well Jean-Luc, with the first war verse the dominion we took heavy damage and so did each race. If we inform them about this discovery that we have made about the Jem�Hadar in the Alpha Quadrants then they may join us.�
�We all damn well know that if we tell anyone they wont come to our Aid. We have many enemies Riker that want us gone. They may even join the other fleet! We were lucky when we had the Relationship with the Klingons in the First war, but after what happened with Worf I doubt that there will be any one on our side.� Shouted John as Mike Rally butted in.
�Do you mind informing us what really happened with Worf? The Cover story you gave to the Federation was convincing but we all know there was something more.�
Captain Sisko looked Towards Picard for a moment.
�I guess it would help you all to understand that story. And the real reason The Klingons are no longer on our side.�

Part XXII

�Around 12 years ago there was a dispute between Worf and Star Fleet Command. It was based off of the Beta Quadrant. Star Fleet had come to own a section of it while the Klingons had previously owned before. Now that doesn�t seem like that big of a reason to go to war with Earth. What we found there was what caused all of the Uproar. �
Jean-Luc looked around the table; all of the Officers present were listening with all open ears.
�There seemed to have been a plant there. That�s been in control of the Klingon High Command. It was a Slave Labor Camp, for Fuel to the Klingon Fleet. The workers were a race of humans. �
�How did we never hear about this before?� Asked T�Jar
�That is what Im getting at. The Klingons had controlled much of that area and with the first couple of wars with the Jem�Hadar we didn�t go towards it. Worf had known about the place, and by doing so he betrayed the Federation and all of its meaning. There for he sided with the High command. They gave him a Promotion for �Doing the Correct thing� while Humans slaved and died.�
�Where did they come from?�
�We do not know. The best guess that Star Fleet could come up with was that the Klingons had High-jacked Human Ships in early Earth Missions then bred then there own race of humans. Star Fleet has taken all of the Humans to a Remote Base on the other side of the Milky way, Thanks to the power of Q. That way they can lead their own lives the way they want to. In a way, a back up earth if there were anything to happen to the race of humans.�
�I understand, The Klingons didn�t want there Slaves taken, and then they tried to get more?�
�Not yet, but we have spies there that have reported that their is a movement in the direction of them. For the past years the Klingon and Star Fleet has agreed on only one thing, and that was to keep this matter quiet. If we did bring it to public, there would be an outbreak of common wars over the issues. Neather Planet wanted this to happen.�
�I do think that is enough information Admiral Picard.� Captain John Lars said, almost right when Riker was going to say the same.�
�I agree, that�s all that we will �inform� you about. Now this is Top Secret in Star Fleet Command. I do not want any of you to talk about this. Not even to family, except in the case of the crushers.�
There was a small giggle around the room on that comment.

�Now I have trusted you all, its now time to get to some matters at hand. I want the Enterprise and the Nightingale to go back into the wormhole and find out if the Jem�Hadar Fleet has been destroyed. If it has then the Threat of war has been solved. If not there may yet be some kind of way to prevent it. Captain Sisko,� He jerked up all of a sudden. �Have you made any contact with the Prophets as of late?�
�They contact me sir, not the other way around.�
�Well try you best in contacting them. They may be able to help out again. Other then that, I will await your transmission on the status of the Gamma quadrant.�
�Alright Admiral. I will be in contact with you.� Captain Riker said as he and the rest of the officers sat up. The time for though was now over. It was the final age of war, the last war perhaps in the alpha quadrant.

Part XXIII

John Lars and Riker got up from the briefing table. Each of the two men had equal ranks, and both of them were trying to prove themselves to star fleet. The fleet ship of the federation was the USS Enterprise, but there had been talk about the USS Nightingale taking over the job. Will Riker had heard about the rumors, and didn�t want anything of this approach to happen.
William T. Riker and John Lars both respected each other, but neither man really liked the other. John gave a look towards Riker. The feeling that he gave off showed that he didn�t trust him. Star Feet wouldn�t have assigned the Enterprise to this mission if it wasn�t for Miles O�Brien.
His sickness made Jean-Luc worry more about the loyalty of him rather than the trust that John had already proven to both Star Fleet and Picard.
�John, may I have a word with you in private for a second?� Picard said.
John turned slowly around and walked back into the briefing room as Beverly and Wesley crusher walked out of the room. The doors closed.
�How is Julian Bashire doing as you acting first officer on the Nightingale?�
�Well Admiral, he has shown that he is not only a Medical expert but he is more a command fitting person. I would recommend a command for himself one of these days.�
�I am glad you think that John, after this threat of war from the Jem�Hadar is over I want to assign him to be the full First officer on the Nightingale.�

�What about Miles O�Brien? I heard that his condition has healed so much as that he was never hurt. I don�t think you can just replace an officer of his talents in a heartbeat! And replacing him with his best friend is not only wrong but it could do damage to Miles beyond physical limits.� John started to say with a louder voice, a hint of anger was there.
�May I finish now Captain?� Picard said straight to John�s face. John looked away for a second. �As I was saying, I want to promote Julian to First Officer of the Nightingale to replace Miles after his promotion.�
�What promotion?�
�Both Janeway and Sisko agree that Miles should get his own command. After this threat is gone, we are promoting Miles to Captain of the USS Nightingale, and promoting you to Vice Admiral and a seat on the Star Fleet Command�s Council.�
John turned back to face Picard.
�You want me to be in a position of equal power as yourself?�
�I want you to be promoted to my position. I am Leaving Star Fleet Command to become an ambassador of foreign matters outside of Star Fleet. I am becoming too old; William Riker is still into exploration and command. He wouldn�t be able to do what I am asking you to step up to. You don�t have to answer me now.�
�I will do it Admiral. But may I ask whose idea was it to give Bashire a try out of the first officer status on the Nightingale?�
�Simple, Admiral Sisko. Bringing them back together as a team like they were on Deep Space Nine would increase our co-fleet ships ability to last in a fight.�
�Excuse me? Co-fleet ship?�
�We have also decided to give the Nightingale the same reputation as the Enterprise. Your crew not only has proven that it is of equal strength of the Enterprise but also that it can function as a Star Fleet Crew in any matters of danger.�
John Lars looked more closely at Picard. He wasn�t joking one bit.
�Thank you for giving my crew the chance.�
�Your welcome Admiral� Jean-Luc Picard said as he left the room leaving John Lars standing there alone in his thoughts.
