Bush recently outlines goals to "establishing an extended human presence on the moon," and that would perhaps be the first step to manned missions on Mars.

I have mixed feelings on this issue. Although I'm all about the advancement of science, there's also a cost/reward factor. Moreover, by the time they do get to Mars, I'll be in my 50's. Do my kids need to have a primary source verify that Mars is very dry? HEh.

I think they should wait a little longer down the road after they get a few debts paid off. To do it now would be like a poor man trying to get into Tiffany's.

Yeah, I'm not to sure, either. In theory, it's great. And spreading it out more would be advisable, but we just don't have the funding to do it as outlined, IMO.

Just goes to show theres more interesting things to invest money into other than war. All that money wasted.

If all the countries of the world all got along the money would be no problem.

I hope this plan works, it would be great to see someone land on Mars. It is the first steps to becoming a bit more explorative, who cares about the money costs, are we just gonna sit around on earth forever? Think about it, eventually we could have Mars conolised and it seem that we will have a Lunar base in the next decade.

Yeah, let's worry about paying off the debt. Maybe the dollar will be worth something again in about a hundred years.

I'm down for it. We'd be exploring something new, something different for once. At least this way, humanity will have something to renew its focus on.

Yeah, it would be great to start building colonies on the moon and all, especially at the rate that we are killing this planet... but then again it might also be able to pay for those two wars Bush has got going without completely wrecking the economy ... and it might be nice to have a little more money in social security.

It's a noble aspiration but we haven't even dealt with all the problems on our own planet.
