Thu Dec 11, 2003 2:45 pm How would Kirk have reacted to Q? |
|
I always wondered how Captain Kirk would have dealt with Q if Q had shown up during Kirk's era.
Kirk is different to Picard in so many ways so how do you think he'd have handled him? Would it have been fists first and ask questions later or would Kirk put on his diplomatic head, as he done many times in his adventures?
Look forward to your views.

I believe it would have run very similar to the time Kirk incountered the god-like creature Apollo.

I haven't seen that particular episode. In fact, there are quite a few Original Series episodes I haven't seen. They're still selling VHS copies of them in several stores near where I work but I think I'll be saving my money for the season boxsets.

I thin Q would have caused the same problems no matter when he came into the picture..

Just as Sisko did... he'd have punched Q's lights out.

I've always wondered how Kirk and crew would have reacted to the Borg. Kirk was very different to Picard and it'd be interesting to see how Kirk would have dealt with things if he had been transported to the future. For example, how would he have reacted to Worf serving on the Enterprise? What about the Ferengi?
One can always ponder what has not or will never happen.

I always thought of Trelane and Q as being a bit different in personality. Yes, they are similar in some ways but to be truthful, I always thought Trelane was a little more sinister than Q who seemed to have a soft spot in his heart for Picard.

My thoughts exaclty Kirk would've kicked Q's butt back to the continum or gotten seriously damaged trying...
Picard gets sooo angry but he holds it all in, Kirk would've exploded

I think he'd probably see Q as a threat to his surpremacy on the ship... it would be a hilarious situation though.

In my view i would like to think that Captain James T. Kirk would respond very much the way that Captain Jean-Luc Picard did in the First Encounter. There would ofcourse be questions and there would be some kind of Trial set by Q for Kirk to defend the Race of Man Kind. Kirk would first think it was some unholy prank and try to escape Q. But in real life There is no Escaping him becasue he is almost as poerful as a God. Star Trek may have based the entire Q Storyline as a God plot. Kirk would Defend The Humans with Honor, So much to say that even the Klingons would say that Kirk had class. Spock, who is Kirk's First officer would say that the entire Q would be Illlogical. Which maybe one reason why there was not a Vulcan on The Next Generation Senior Staff. Kirk would be at it alone, Mcoye ( Forgive the spelling) i would think would first side with Spock and change his mind and reg. it all in a Medical Database after getting a few good time scans in for star fleet. Kirk in the End would follow the orders of Q to his abilitys to save and protect the crew of the USS Enterprise.

Yes, but they were essentially the same. Trelane was definitely more homicidal though. Kirk still played him like a fiddle.

Trelane was the other omnipotent alien? I assume that Kirk would handle Q the same way he handled him. Actually Kirk might have liked Q. They probably would have went off gallavanting across the galaxy picking up alien women.

Good point, Founder. I think a spin-off show would have been nice.
Kirk & Q. Each week, follow the human Kirk and the omnipotent alien Q as they travel across the universe, picking up alien women from all species. Hey, maybe even The Borg Queen would have went weak at the knees once Kirk got his hands on her.
