Well, I'm kinda locked into reading them - I bought them three months ago and they've been collecting dust on a shelf since. And I DON'T sell or throw away books until I've at least read them.

I didn't say don't read them. Homecoming and The Farthur Shore were horribly written, but I will read the next two books she is writing

There are 2 books currently available, "Homecoming" and "The Farther Shore".
Both are set after the Season 7 finale, "Endgame" after Voyager has returned home. Bascially (I'll try not to spoil it) it's about a Borg plague unleashed on Earth (everyone turning into drones) and the Voyager crew being held responsible. There is also a subplot about a holographic revolution and a story about B'ellanna making her peace with her mother during a Klingon ritual. Both storylines span both books. It's up to Janeway & Co. to clear their names, save the Earth, etc.

The next two books are called "Enemy of My Enemy" and "Old Wounds". As far as I know, no other details have been announced.

Hey, IntrepidIsMe... why do you think they were horribly written? like, from a true literary critic standard, just a Star Trek book standard or what?

I didn't think they were the best ones. OK but not the best.

To me, the books seemed a little slow and boring at first. Also, they were a bit easy to read IMO...therefore, I didn't properly "get into" them.

Good for a "harcore" Voyager fan though I preferred the DS9 relaunch...somehow it seemed more epic though that's just a matter of preference....

They should have focused more on the doctor and the holographic revolution. The doctor is far superior to Seven as a character.

What I mean is that they were just badly written. I read tons, that may be why. The author jumps around all the time, I don't mean her switching settings, I mean she resolves the conflict withing 15 pages. That's never good. For example, we saw Miral die, were we supposed to cry? I mean, we only knew her for like 3 hours. That's just stupid, you don't get to know the character, or the mother-daughter relationship. Thats just one example of many.

^ I concur.

Hmm... I guess. when you compare it to rich, real literature. But then again if you think about it, it's about exactly like any given Star Trek episode (with 15 pages equalling 5 minutes to resolve the conflict). I don't know, i got kind of bored with the holographic revolution. well, mostly just the 10 page conversation between Baines and the Doc. As for Miral, I think her character was signifigant enough. We had heard about her in the show and kind of gotten to know her that way, but I guess you're right that there was no real development in her character in the story. I mostly just felt bad for B'Elanna. But what was Golden supposed to do? Most Trek episodes have a plot and a sub-plot. If she wanted to write the books about the expierences of each character after the return of Voyager, did she have any choice but to have so many plots going on? Maybe it would have been better to write one volume each... but then of course, we'd still be waiting for them to come out.....

I have no problem with so many plots going on, it was essential for the type of story she (author) was writing. I guess maybe they just didn't want the books to end up being too long. That might turn some people off.

i would prefer a longer book that gets into the nitty gritty details rather than something written to appeal to "young adult" readers

Young adults are likely the main ST fanbase.
