All she could see was a few pieces of tinsel on the carpet. So this was the place where Neelix had his evidence?

�It was right here,� Neelix prompted, pointing towards the blue pieces.

�I don�t doubt that, Neelix. It doesn�t help us much, though. If you would have been able to catch the alien�� She let the sentence trail off, when she heard voices shouting.

Even though Janeway knew that the people who were shouting had to be quite far way from her, she hurried in the direction that the sound kept coming from. It was definitely not going to be a calm Christmas for her this year.

December 14

A minute later, the Captain, and Neelix, arrived outside Main Engineering.
�I should have figured�� She muttered, while taking a second to stop and breathe outside the closed doors.

Once again, she straightened her dress out, and entered, with the chef not far behind.

On the other side of the doors, the sound level was higher than during a red alert, with competent engineers running around like beheaded chickens.

�What�s going on?� Janeway shouted, but no one heard her. �What is going on?!�

�Captain�� Neelix patted her on the shoulder. �I think it�s because of that.�

He pointed at a spot, but quickly had to move his finger to another, trying to follow something yellow.

�What is that?� Janeway, too, tried to follow the fuzzy yellow spot, but constantly lost sight of it.

�I think� That�s your evidence.�

She didn't give up on following the yellow alien with her gaze, but she did not succeed often. It was simply too fast, too small, and too... yellow.
The color actually made her eyes hurt.

When she finally realized that she wouldn't be able to spot it for more than a fraction of a second at the time, she touched her comm badge, knowing that she had to report to her Bridge.
Maybe someone could come up with something to do. She definitely couldn't. In fact, she couldn't think straight at all.

�Take it!� Suddenly, B�Elanna Torres stepped out in front of it, giving Janeway time to hope that she�d catch it herself, but no such luck. The alien quickly turned, running in the opposite direction.
It had almost gotten to the other side of engineering, when there was a sudden shimmer, and a force field appeared in front of it. Strangely enough, Janeway thought she could see the confusion take over the little body far away on the other side of the warp core, when it tried to turn around, but found itself shut in.

�Finally�� Torres muttered, as she approached the Captain and Neelix. �Do you know how much damage that thing caused down here?�

�I have a pretty good idea,� Janeway nodded, studying the little yellow thing closely as it sunk down to the floor, clearly feeling every bit as confused and helpless as the crew had felt while trying to catch it. �Beam it to sickbay.�

�Sickbay, Captain? Why no send it directly to the brig?�

�Believe it or not, B�Elanna. But it is Christmas.�

�Merry Christmas, Doctor,� B�Elanna muttered from her bobbed, where she waited for the EMH to leave the alien alone and treat a wound on her leg.

�What is it?� Janeway asked. She watched the little alien on the all too big bed. It had brought its knees up to the big head, thus it could rest its chin on the knees.

�A very interesting little fellow, indeed. It�s a male, about your age, Lieutenant Torres. He is exceptionally fast, and he has got some kind of psychical powers, much like Kes had.� He ended with a heartfelt sigh, eliciting a snort from she who was the same age as the alien.

�Can�t he speak? I would like to ask him id he knows, why Voyager started shaking.�

�Who cares, it was probably his fault anyway.�
