PostFri Dec 19, 2003 6:19 pm    Did you buy the season boxsets?

Did anyone buy all seven season boxsets or even the Limited Edition Borg Cube DVD boxset?

I was going to but I didn't in the end. I've seen every episode of TOS & TNG (unlike the other shows where I've only watched half the episodes). And I was keen to buy the boxsets, especially as DVD is a superior format but I didn't-for two reasons.

1) I wasn't overly impressed with the extras. I spoke with some people and they said that some of the extras were too generic and that some of the documentaries didn't even have anything to do with the particular season boxset they were part of.

Also, I noticed a lack of things I'd have liked to see. Where were the bloopers for instance? They must have some.

And what about audio commentaries (trust me, audio commentaries can be good). I'm not suggesting that every TNG episode should have had an audio commentary but certainly pivotal episodes such as "Encounter at Farpoint", "The Best of Both Worlds" and "All Good Things..." should have had audio commentaries.

2) The second reason I didn't buy anything is because I actually brought all the video's which were released firstly by CIC Video and then Paramount in the early 90's.

I never bothered to watch TNG on TV when it made it's UK debut on terrestrial TV in September 1990. It was on at 6PM which was an inconvenient time for me-so I just brought the tapes.

All in all, 89 tapes were released and I have every one of them. I just couldn't buy the boxsets after I had spent several years (and expense, although I got some of them at bargain prices) buying the videotapes. I guess I should have predicted that DVD would be invented.

So no, there will be no TNG boxsets for me. I shall buy DSN boxsets because I've only seen seasons 1-3. And I shall buy Voyager as I've only seen seasons 1-2 and half of season 3. I shall buy TOS because I don't have them all on tape. I won't bother with Enterprise because a) I'm not particularly keen on it (I'm halfway through season 1) and am only watching out of habit and b) I've been taping them off TV and watching them so I don't see the point in expense for DVD's.

Stephen

Well I know for Sure that I will buy all the Voyager sets. If the Next Gen sets wernt so damn expensive I would probberly buy a few, if not all of them. Though, at the moment there is a special in KMART with $50 off all the TNG and DSN sets. This still leaves them at $150 though. I would only buy them if they were under $100. I will buy Voyager though. No matter what the cost.

I've bought the Season 6 boxset. At the moment they are on sale from 89.99 to 45 so I might get another one. I wouldn't buy them at the full price because I don't have that kind of money to spend, but would if I could. Anyone got a spare 1000 or so?

I don't mean that way, it's rather that when they are released here they will be about that much.

^That's an idea to get them cheap, I might do it.

Look for the season 7 voyyager episodes on Kazaa- most of them were really good quality. I don't think it's illegal because they're not availible on DVD yet.

As I posted somewhere Else:

Data is the best Character. His episodes are by far my favourite.. They should make a Data DVD Box Set with all the Data episodes.. Like the Jean Luc Picard set.. I would buy it for sure!! Does anyone know who I should email about this?

I bought all seven seasons. I'm currently watching season 5. After I finish them I'll watch DS9. Of course I plan to break in and watch my Voyager DVD's as I get them.
