Great chemestry between Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Bones. All 4 are great actors, and each brought something different and entertaining to the table each episode.

yeah.... sure.... Star Trek TOS didn't have great special effects, it was kinda silly most of the time and it's not even my favorite series, but I still watch it.
I think my favorite episode was when Kirk, McCoy, Scotty and Uhura went into a parallel universe when they used the transporter, and they met the Spock with the beard. And, the Enterprise in the parallel universe was a war ship instead of a ship of exploration.
Another episode I like, is when the Enterprise goes to this planet to find a friend and when they go down to the planet, it's a nazi society and his friend is drugged and being used.
One more favorite, is when Kirk and Spock goes to this planet and it's like the 1930's with gangsters. I think the name of that episode was "A Piece of the Action ".
Anyway... Star Trek had to start somewhere. And, if Star Trek TOS was never made... Star Trek Voyager would've never became the best series.

Lol, the stories were actually original then! That's got to be the key fave!
And yes, by today's standards the special effects are quite bad lol, but they're good for the times considering the show had such a low budget.

Consider perhaps that the finest Trek episode ever as far as a one-on-one duel came in only the 9th episode of the franchise.

Watch "Balance of Terror" which introduces Romulans for the first time, and tell me that the Original Series sucks.

I like it only for the originality, I don't like it because there aren't any Borg.

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is recomme... I mean futile. We will assimilate Earth and The United Federation of Planets. Mercy and compassion are irrelevent.

Anyone remember Doctor Who? There was a cyborg race in that called The Cybermen who tried to assimilate other races. Even today, ardent Dr. Who fans claim that The Borg ripped of The Cybermen.

So, if The Borg had been created during TOS, then TOS would have been accused of blatantly copying an idea.

It wasn't so bad with TNG which started in 1987. By 1987, Dr. Who was in it's final years and I don't believe The Cybermen featured in any late 80's Dr. Who stories.

My friend, you say you don't like TOS because there were no Borg. But there were plenty of other great villains such as The Klingons, The Romulans and so on. If someone had come up with the idea for The Borg back during TOS, then I am sure it would have been in the series.

I will say this though. There are two TNG characters that I would have loved to see meet Kirk and Spock. The first was Q. How Kirk and Spock would have reacted to him would be fun? And The Borg too. How would Kirk and Spock have handled them?

Stephen

Favorite thing about TOS? One word: Campiness. It is the camp that makes TOS so watchable. You have to be able to laugh about Shatner's acting while still appreciating the science fiction. Nothing is black and white...shades of gray.

Alot of younger people find TOS boring. I've noticed that anytime a show gets to be about 20 years old it gets pretty dated. Even looking back at the early seasons of TNG with today's eye you'll notice alot of things that seem cheesy or corny.

TOS set the scene for every Trek show that came later. I think Voyager 'feels' more like TOS than any of the other shows.
