Does anyone like DS9, why or why not?
Personally I do not, it's a little too boring, I like visiting people, not watching people visit me.
((Moderator Note- I have edited this to see what the public opinion of STV is of DS9, It now contains a poll to vote whether you like it or not- Pah-Wraith))

My response to this would be way to long to address the "boaring" remark. You obviously havn't seen much of DS9, the best Trek series, because anyone who has doesn't use the word "boaring" to describe DS9.
A short response... Deep Space Nine is my favorite Trek because of superior casting, plotlines, character development, story arcs, recurring character development, battle scenes, war angles, type of issues addressed, and the Borg wern't used as a crutch, nor was sex or similar episodes with only different races and names used to cover up essentially the same type of theme used in an ep 10 eps ago. (see VGR, ENT)

I haven't seen too much of DS9 but I didn't like what I had seen. I found it boring and I prefer watching series like VOY and TNG because they can visit other worlds more

If visiting other worlds is all that matters to you, then I can see why you might not like DS9.
However, if you enjoy long-ranging story arcs, deep characterizations, storylines that have consequences because they can't just screw up, say "Oh well", and fly off the to the next planet-----if, in short, you like stories that don't need a new planet each week to be fascinating----then DS9 is the best Trek series there is.

Always nice to see some backup for me in the DS9 wars. Thanks Lindley, always knowegable input from you.
I can't believe anyone could use DS9 and boaring in the same sentence, unless it was "DS9 is the farthest Trek from boaring there ever was."

I really like DS9 because its a long ongoing story,
You can only find it boring if you watch it in fragments, its something you have to watch from the beginning,
Shame, ive only seen about 10-15 episodes, they only show TNG and Voyager on TV these days.
I cant afford the dvd box sets either

I think that Deep Space Nine would be my favourite Trek, if I'd seen more of it. What I have seen has been brilliant. The characters are believeable and funny, the setting is unique and like Lindley said, the consequences of their actions don't just get buried in their database, they have to deal with them.

Hell Yeah I like Deep Space Nine!
It touches Issues that the other treks seemed to not even mention, such as Racism, a Corrupt Federation Covert Ops division (Section 31), Captains and Admirals bending rules without over indulging in it and the Idea of having the Main Character a centre piece in a Non-Federation culture's Religion (although the Prophet/Pah-Wraith thing did get a little tedious and could have been used less in the seventh season). Deep Space Nine got me into Trek and ever since it ended I haven't really found any other series of Trek to give me the same Thrill that watching DS9 gave me. Deep Space Nine also has probably the best battle scenes you'll see in Trek (even if they are reused a lot!). I am aware that some of you do not like ds9 because of the some of the reasons that made me like it, but all I'm saying is you guys don't know what you were missing on!

I love this series. It is hands down the best star trek series they have ever created. It was completely different than the others, and it also had worf and o'brien, which made it even better.

from the very little epsiodes that i have seen, i like it, because of the fact it takes a different direction and focus on the war side of some things, rather than just visting planets, which has been enough covered in TNG, which is also great

I must wholehesrtedly agree with Rappers Delight! I was a great series although it was sad when Jhadzia died, and the final episode was a tearjerker. It got off a little slow but as you followed it, it got better. I wonder if we've seen the last of Ben Sisko?

DEEP SPACE NINE was great, it bought out the human characteristics of the crew and it displayed the more vulnerable federation and not always winning every battle!!!

A bit slow to start with (Seasons 1 & 2) but it gained momentum (Best season IMO was 6) as it went on. Deeper story arcs, fewer stereotypical characters, etc. (For example, no cocky "flyboy" - aka Tom Paris - Sorry! -that was just an example...please don't hurt me Paris fans...)...
I preferred the way you knew the end was coming in The Final Chapter but it really benefitted from the build-up. A similar thing would have been good with Voyager but the concept of Voyager didn't work like that so it wouldn't really have been an option.
Still I preferred Babylon 5...a similar premise but somehow more...believable and epic...(Nothing like a little B5 worship, huh?!)

Deep Space Nine is a show which, IMHO, can never be matched. Some say it's boring, I disagree. Sure, the first few seasons were average, but once the Dominion were introduced things picked up. I've only seen the first four seasons, but from what I've seen I like. The characters are built upon nicely, and the political aspect of the show is a very welcome change from the same ol' "Let's go visit this planet and meet the inhabitants" routine. Instead of us going out and meeting them, we have them coming and meeting us (and from a different quadrant, too).

Have you seen Babylon 5?
While the vote is split about 50/50 on which is better, B5 or DS9, the majority of people agree that they are very close in quality. The main difference is that DS9 focuses slightly more on character, whereas B5 focuses slightly more on story.

While I liked DS9 the least out of all the StarTrek series... it's still part of the Star Trek universe, so that speaks for itself. The best of DS9 was the last 6 episodes as they get to the series finale, and those episodes had the most action.
DS9, as a whole, seemed more like soap opera, 'cuz of the lack of action. But, I still found myself getting a comfortable seat, so I could watch it the entire hour.

I think most people would disagree about DS9 and having the least action; as far as I was concerned it had more action than any other trek series so far (although I've only seen a tiny amount of ENT Episodes so I could be wrong).
As for the last few episodes having all the action, most of those scenes were taken from previous battlescenes shown in the 6th Season
