Some people were confused for a while about the show being in the past, I think. That's probably why they mentioned Seven.

I think he makes a great captain it took a minute to get used to him but I like him more now, but I would like to see more of his fighting skills though.

 I dont think I have seen enough episodes to determine if he is a good captain or not. But I think that he is doing good for the writers that are doing his show.
