PostSat Nov 08, 2003 4:51 pm    Voyager The Tale of a Remarkable Woman! (slightly biased!)

Hi guys. This is my first fan fic, if you could call it that. I'm trying to re-write Voyager as a play but with some minor changes to the story line. Heres the first bit. Please tall me what you think (Not all the facts are correct b/c I'm not that clever)

Act 1

Introduction

(Curtains remain closed. A spotlight comes up on the Narrator at the side of the stage.)

Narrator: This is a story of survival, bravery, and people making friends and enemies. And of one very inspirational woman, who led these people across the galaxy, never giving up on the hope of getting home one day. This is her story

(Lights fade. Narrator remains at the side of the stage throughout the play)

Scene 1

(Admiral Paris and Janeway have just entered the stage. Backdrop: Bridge)

Admiral Paris: Shes a worthy ship is Voyager. Finest in the fleet.

Janeway: Ive been reading the specs. Im sure Ill have her in fine shape by the time we get back.

A.P: Now dont go braking Starfleets newest toy. Youre only on a 3-week mission!

J: A lot can be achieved in 3 weeks. Now, wheres my luggage?

A.P: Dont make yourself too comfy! (To crewman) Is my son aboard yet?

Crewman: Hes just boarding.

A.P: Tell him to report to Captain Janeway as soon as he materialises. (Crewman leaves. To Janeway) Please keep an eye on him. Theyve just let him out of Starfleet prison.

J: Will do Admiral.

A.P: Id better go.

J: See you in 3 weeks Admiral. Now where is my ready room?

(Admiral Paris exits. Lights fade on Janeway)

Scene 2

(Janeway is in her ready room. Lights on Janeway reading at her desk. She gets up, walks around and arrives at the replicator)

J: Coffee, black.

Computer: Specify.

J: We havent even lifted off. Dont start playing up now. (LOUDER) Coffee, black.

(Coffee is placed on table by stage exit. She picks it up and drinks from it. She takes it back and stares round the room in amazement. Music starts playing)

Song: I will Survive

(Bleep sounds as music fades. Enter Tom Paris and Harry Kim)

Kim: Captain?

J: (Startled) Havent you two gentlemen heard of knocking?

Paris: Actually Captain, we did knock, only, I dont think you heard us.

J:
Tom Paris isnt it?

P: Yes

J: Straight out of Starfleet prison I hear. Im telling you now; I dont want any funny business on my ship, understood?

P: Yes

J: And youre going to help me find that Maquis ship. Got it?

P: Yes Captain.

J: Ensign?

K: Ensign Kim. Its my first deep space assignment Sir.

J: At ease before you strain something Ensign. Let me make one thing clear to both of you. Sir is never acceptable. I prefer Captain, Maam at a crunch.

K&P:
Yes Captain.

(Lights fade on all characters. Curtains close.)

Update

(Done in front of the curtain with only the spotlight on the narrator.)

N: And the crew of Voyager set off into the Badlands to find the Maquis ship, led by this one woman. Little did they know what was in store for them

Let me know what you think please. I'm trying to cramp 7 years of events into one little play/script. Any suggestions welcome

Scene 3

(Janeway, Lieutenant Stadi (Helm), Commander Rollins, Lieutenant Carey (Tactical), Kim (Ops) and Paris are on the bridge. Lights come up. Everyone is at his or her stations working. Paris is observing them.)

Stadi: Maam, something is aiming some sort of wave at us.
J: Kim, can you clarify what it is?

K: Not yet maam but that wave is on an intercept course.

J: Evasive manoeuvres!

Carey: Its no good Captain, we cant evade it.

J: All hands, this is the Captain. Brace for impact!

(Lights go out suddenly)

Scene 4

(Bridge crews are scattered across the bridge either injured or dead. Janeway, Paris and Kim wake up and star checking for survivors.)

J: Bridge to Sickbay, medical emergency!

(No response)

J: I repeat, Bridge to Sickbay, medical emergency!

K: Communications are online Captain. I dont know whats wrong!

P: I dont know where we are yet but I recognise that ship. Its Chakotays!

(Janeway works at a console)

J: I hope sensors are malfunctioning because they report we are in the Delta Quadrant.

K: I can confirm sensors are working at maximum efficiency. I dont believe it! My first assignment and we get lost!

J: (Sharpish) Well Im sorry Ensign but theres not a lot I can do now!

K: Sorry maam. Paris and me will go and check Sickbay.

(Lights fade out as they exit)

Scene 5

(Everyone is Sickbay is dead. Paris and Kim enter as lights fade up.)

K: Activate the Emergency Medical Hologram.

(EMH/Doctor appears in a cloud of smoke at the side of the stage)

Doctor: Please state the nature of the medical emergency.

P: Some of the crew are dead and many are injured.

(Doctor walks over to the human doctor and checks his pulse)

D: Well hes dead. Not much I can do for him.

(In walk some crewmen with injuries)

D: Tricorder

(Kim passes him a normal tricorder)

D: (sarcastically) Medical tricorder!

(Tom passes him one)

D: wheres the nurse around here?

P: She died.

D: Well I hope you have a replacement Doctor and Nurse.

K: Not really. We were only supposed to be on a 3-week mission and now it looks like were gonna be in space forever!

D: Why? Whats happened now, Cant humans take care of themselves for one second?!? I wonder how a race of incompetent beings has survived for so long.

P: Cant talk now Doc. We got to get back to the Bridge.

(Lights fade as the EMH starts to examine people)

Update

(In front of curtain)

Narrator: Janeway, being the sensitive woman she is, thought it would be best to have a service for those who had died. She didnt know what had caused it but sensors had shown an array before them. To get to the bottom of this, she had taken an away team over to the array to find out what it was. On board the array, she had met with an alien called the caretaker, a being who needed a mate to care for a race called the Ocampan. He was dying and he didnt want an alien race called the Kazon, who were ruthless beings, using his remains to harm others. The caretaker had asked Janeway to destroy him so that the Kazon could not use his remains. Back on board, Janeway had contacted the Maquis crew. The captain, Chakotay, had agreed that they all serve aboard one ship, a Federation ship. Janeway reinstated Tuvok back as her spy tactical officer and gave Chakotay the rank of Commander and BElanna Torres the rank of Lieutenant and Chief Engineer. On the way to Ocampa, they met a Talaxan scavenger, Neelix, who agreed to give them information for water, a rare substance in the Delta Quadrant. Later he agreed to serve on the ship as the cook in the mess hall. When they got to Ocampa, they had quite a shock
