A simple shift of a high pressure ridge accounts for the sudden change, Higa said. Last week, the ridge plopped right over the Northwest, bringing a flow of warm, tropical air into the region. This week, the ridge is offshore, allowing cold continental air from Canada to whoosh into the area, Higa explained.
Such sudden change of climate is hard on gardens, because plants haven't had time to harden off or go dormant, said Pam Moore, co-owner of Greg's Gardens in Longview.
She recommends throwing sheets over tender shrubs and perennials, and the lack of rain this fall should also prompt gardeners to water.
"The cold air just pulls all the moisture of the soil," she said, while adding moisture helps insulate plant roots.
It's also time to drain garden hoses, sprinkler systems and other outdoor water-containing equipment, said Chris Searing, owner of Searing's Electric and Plumbing in Longview.
The cold snap won't be sharp enough to freeze indoor plumbing in unheated areas, such as crawl spaces. "It has to be below freezing a good period of time" to freeze faucets and indoor water pipes, he said.
However, he said, with the mercury starting to plunge, it's a good idea to start winterizing now.

Yep today Im going to go up to mount saint helans to get some of that snow theres even more snow there now since that pic was taken god I love the cold

Not really. If the world heats up, then it affects airstreams and streams of water crossing oceans. With these providing either a cooling or warming effects on the areas they go over then it will change the weather in places. For example the UK should be frozen a lot more than it is, but the Gulf Stream provides a warming influence. Also I can't remember how, but global warming is supposted to trigger off the ice ages about every 50 000 years. With global warming happening faster than normal it will speed up the time to the next ice age, if there is one.

Depends what you're used to. Cold weather for hot climates, and vica versa. Also old people don't like it as they slip on the ice.
