Over 1000 homes destroyed, 1000 people homeless, and 22deaths and rising how will this inferno be stopped? With 2billion dollars of cost and rising will the state ever recover?

Just think... if the evironmental extremists didn't fight to keep those trees from getting cut down, the trees would'nt have been there to catch fire and all the homes would still be standing and no one would've been killed.

Well, I don't think that cutting down the trees would have made a difference, the brush would be just as bad, plus they would have to have cut down at least 750,000 acres of trees as that is what the fire has consumed so far.
I recentley herd on CNN that the weather has been in our favor and they are expecting to have the fire contained within a week, if all goes well.

If the homeowners were allowed to cut down the trees that were near their homes, it would've made a big difference. The burning trees caused much more damage than the burning brush did... although, it would've been smart to clear out both... at least a couple of city blocks.
Instead, there are over 2500+ homes destroyed and at least 20 lives taken.

I have to say that I disagree with you. You would rather have barren landscape that would be extortionatly expensive to keep clear of plant life, which would kill all the animals rather than the fires? Also more people would die from the huge climatic change that would take place as there would be no water being released into the air from plants that draw it from underground. And then there would be the dustbowl effect of the 30s (?) as the plants wouldn't hold the soil together.

I only said... to clear out the trees for at least a couple of city blocks. I didn't say, to cut millions of acres of trees.
Well... now you don't have the trees ( releasing oxygen or water into the air ), the animals, the 2500 homes, or the 20 lives.
Environmental extremists can be such hypocrites. They can cry about not cutting any trees, and yet buy new kitchen cabinets (made out of wood), new TV (cabinet is wood), book shelves (wood), cabinets (wood), wooden rocking horse for the kid, wooden crib for the baby, wooden picture frames, wooden wall clocks, have a new wooden garage built, buy wooden kitchen table and chairs... etc. etc.
I wonder what you write on, if you don't write on paper ?
If there was a compromise, everyone would get what they want... oxygen, water, homes and lives.

I'm no enviromental extremest! I was just saying the other side of the coin. I misinterpreted you views about just a couple of blocks, so sorry. What I type on is actually a computer, not paper.
