PostThu Oct 30, 2003 7:52 pm    Creative Writing, My Major in college

I just wanted to tell all the fan fiction writers out there that, although some of you are way better than i am, i have chosen the path to major in creative writing in college. My hopes are foe me to become a well-known author like christor pike and Michael chriton. All I know is in about 7 years (4 for college and 3 years left in high school being that Im a sophomore) Im going to be a published author. And if that doesnt work Ill use my background to become a writer at a newspaper or a magazine. My hardest trouble will be my spelling errors because I an dyslexic but I wont let that keep me down.

Hey, good luck! I'm sure you'll do very well.

Perhaps you can use this topic to post a few original texts later on.

Across the River, By John Lechlitner
Copyright 2003, John Lechlitner

Summary:
Would you expect to find something incredible in somewhere where there was almost nothing? Well thats what Amy Jones thought when she moved into a new town called cannon. There was almost no one in the town, and there was nothing to do. That was what she though till she crossed the river in the field behind her ranch. What she found was what many people have never had before, a real phenomenon.

Chapter 1

No one really knew where the town of Cannon was. It was not marked very clearly on any map that was made of the area. It was almost like no one in the entire world has heard of it. Well, thats just what I though when we decided to move into town. It was smaller than most towns. It took only about a month before I knew every person in the town of Cannon.
Amy Jones was a high school student, a new coming freshman from Dallas Texas. She was a smart person to say the lest, she was at the top of her class in a 5A school. That was quite and achievement. Amy was more of a Tomboy than a girly girl that was taken in a small town. She never had worn a dress, Even if it was at church where all the girls wore them. That was just one of the things that many people didnt like about her.
She was smart. The people of Cannon never took her in lightly because they though that she would take the light away from there top scholar, James Campbell. He was the towns hope for the future. James was like Amy. They were both freshman, at the same school. So naturally these two were going to have a very competitive year.
Amy, help me bring in these last boxes from the truck Asked her father.
One second, cant someone else help you?
Your mom and sister are out shopping for the bathroom towels, hurry up and get down here. Julian Jones said in a stiff voice.
Alright
Amy hurried up getting dressed and ran down stairs. Her room was on the second floor and down a ways from the front door. She had on a simple pair of blue jeans and a tank top, which was covered by here long blond hair. She had on a pair of sandals that were white to watch the shirt.
Whats up dad? Asked as if she had no breath left.
I need some help bring in the boxes, take them to the garage and stack them in the corner. And for goodness sakes, please dont go outside again wearing only that!
This? There is nothing wrong with this Amy bent over and grabbed a box and began walking towards the garage.
Fine whatever, but dont complain to me when you start to get a cold out here! Its the middle of December
You think that we will have the tree up this year?
Her father stopped for a moment as if he was in deep thought about something. Just a few years ago his first wife was killed on Christmas Eve in a car accident. She was trying to go and get Amy a certain present for Christmas that would be sure to bring her a smile.
Go ahead, I think we have had enough time to heal.
Amy was getting a little tired when her mom and sister pulled up to the drive way with a car full of stuff. At that moment she knew that she was going to have to be the one to carry it all inside of the house. Both of them would say that they were tired and that she didnt go so she would have to be the one to bring it in. it was getting a little cold outside now.
Without a word she set down the last box and went to go get the bags upon bags of towels. That was what they intended to go get. But that doesnt always mean thats what they will get. And Amy was right; she looked in the bags to see that it was full of unnecessary make-up and clothes.
Thank you dear. Thats very sweet of you. If you need us we will be inside cooling off. Sierra Jones said as she walked inside of the house. Maybe being the strongest person in the family has some prices to pay.
It was an hour later before she was able to go back to her room and finish getting dressed. Her family had a way that always kept her busy. The next day was going to be her second week at Cannon High School. It was small, with her class only having 50 or so in it. She had taken a few simple courses this year. Geometry, Chemistry and Latin 2 That was one of the strangest class schedule that a freshman had in this town. But she had taken Biology over the summer and also passed both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. She had only been to high school for 2 weeks yet she had 5 credits done. She took Latin in middle school. Which was easy, they had offered it to her. But she had to leave to go to the high school in Dallas to take the class.
Chemistry was her most challenging class, but Amy stuck with it and was making the highest grade in the entire class. She had taken it over the summer but the school would only allow 5 credits to be taken before you were a sophomore, that way she would have to stay in school and not graduate in 1 year.
Christmas was closing in, and Amy knew it would be a great holiday. In a few months she would have presents up to her neck. She had given her dad and step mom a huge list that which told them what to get, where to get it, and what she didnt want.
Amy went around her room to gather books; notebooks, pens and pencils and then she placed them in her backpack. Small, blue pack with pockets along the outside edges. With in a few more moments she quickly put on her nightgown and she turned off her light and crawled into her bed.

It was a pleasant night. There was no storms, or any loud noises that was being mad and Amy slept right though the entire night without waking up. Most of the Jones families were not really good sleepers. Most were called insomniacs. You could see lights on in their living room window from outside. Their neighbors didnt seem to mind, so that was a good thing.
The morning cam really fast, and there was a line for the shower. Both her mom and sister were up putting on make up, and her dad was taking a long time in the bathroom. You would think a 2-story house, 5-bedroom would have 2 bathrooms, but you would have to be surprised.
