I saw an episode of TNG last week where Geordi and Ro got turned into "ghosts" or phased into a different realm thing or something...I was wondering how come if they could fall through walls and stuff, why didn't they just fall through the floor

I remember watching that last week. I had to hunt around the house for a television that wasn't BBC2 Wales, as that was showing rugby.  Found one though, in here in fact. I was on the net at the same time. Anyway... was it called "The Next Phase"? I'd seen it before, but quite a while ago. And I always wondered about that... Actually, why don't any ghosts seem to fall through the floor?

That's a good point... just like.. why are people still wet when leaving the holodeck. I thought it would be holographic water or something. 
It's tough for Paramount to pull a fast one on us.

I don't remember what ep that was but I read a book about the science of ST and the author brought that up. It's hilarious. Cna you imagine what would happen if they actually did fall through the ship? It'd be great slap-stick comedy.....

really...  the only show I've ever seen deal with that problem when something like that happens is ghost dad. Everyone else seems to think floors are special...
