Might be stupid, but I cut a little bit of my time to write the Star-spangled Banner. The least I could do.

Oh say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming
And the rockets' red glare the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof throught the night that our flag was still there
Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
For the land of the free and the home of the brave.

My country tis of thee
Sweet land of liberty
Of thee I sing
Land where my fathers died
Land of the pilgrim's pride
From every moutainside
Let freedom ring

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today
Cuz the flag still stands for FREEDOM
and they cant take that away

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'll gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today,
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the USA

From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennesse
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston
From New York to L.A.
There's PRIDE in every American heart
And I'll gladly stand and say;

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'll gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today,
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the USA

Actually, that is a good idea. Not only for those who don't know the songs, but also for the Americans. When you type out the words, you can't help but think of what they mean. That's a great thing, because often times we forget.

Oh beautiful,for spacious skies.
For amber waves of grain. For puprle mountains,Majesty.
Above the fruited plains.
America...Sweet America,
God shed His grace on thee.
And crown thy good,with brotherhood.
From sea to shining sea.

There are bad times,
there are good,
there will always bad in good,
and good in bad,
no matter what the case is,
the world still turns.

The USA has a wound, it is in pain. Of course, what will happen is that this wound will heal, and undoubtably the US will be stronger than ever.

We all stare in awe at our television screens

As events unfold before us, pictures of horrors unforeseen.

These monsters have attacked us, our way of life, our buildings and dreams;

Then they cowardly turn and disappear in the midst of all their schemes.

Our President has told us "For this we will not stand."

Retaliation and Justice is what the American people do demand.

Our people must not suffer--and never at terrorists hands-

And we must do whatever it takes to make them understand.

We have the strength to overcome-I pray God will help us to heal,

Until that day comes, and we stand tall, terror and sorrow are what we'll feel.

We must pray for all America--our friends and loved ones, too;

We all must stand together as one--and together we'll ALL pull through.

AMERICA CRIES

With tear stained faces, America cries....

For Every person lost and for each hero that dies....

After the smoke clears and all the dust has settled....

America still stands, despite all the debris and the metal....

As we rally together, United we stand....

Reaching out to a stranger and holding their hand....

With courage and faith- we shall not bend....

To the terrorist that have taken a family member or friend....

I have found that heroes aren't born- heroes are made....

Risking their lives in spite of being afraid....

We thank all the Rescue Workers for being so brave....

Running into a burning building, hoping to find a life to save....

To all those people who have lost someone they love......

May God be with you and send you blessings from above.

Sorry I can't come up with anything original, but J is the writer in this house. Some of these things people are sending are so good, I'll just put them here in lieu of me actually penning something.
Trust me, your better off.

September 11th, 2001

September 11, the year 2001
A day of tragedy in the golden sun

Not just one life was shattered and torn
Thousands no longer will be as when born

Our country, a place we can be free
Was shattered and torn for all to see

Frozen in time, planes crashing, a total of four
Taking lives, heroes, and just folks, forever more

But we are Americans and will fight back
Against this evil and horrendous act

No one can bury or kill our Nation so strong
We will rebuild, in steel, concrete and with song.

You can't take us down, from land or flights above
We are Americans and will defend this land we love.

So while we mourn and pray for lives lost
For heroes trying to save others no matter the cost

We will rebound and remember to fear us, yes you must
Because we are Americans on our land and In God we Trust.

An open letter to a terrorist:
(author unknown)
Well, you hit the World Trade Center, but you missed America. You hit the Pentagon, but you missed America. You used helpless American bodies, to take out other American bodies, but like a poor marksman, you STILL missed America.

Why? Because of something you guys will never understand. America isn't about a building or two, not about financial centers, not about military centers, America isn't about a place, America isn't even about a bunch of bodies.

America is about an IDEA. An idea, that you can go someplace where you can earn as much as you can figure out how to, live for the most part, like you envisioned living, and pursue Happiness. (No guarantees that you'll reach it, but you can sure try!)

Go ahead and whine your terrorist whine, and chant your terrorist litany: "If you can not see my point, then feel my pain." This concept is alien to Americans. We live in a country where we don't have to see your point. But you're free to have one. We don't have to listen to your speech. But you're free to say one. Don't know where you got the strange idea that everyone has to agree with you.

There's a spirit that tends to take over people who come to this country, looking for opportunity, looking for liberty, looking for freedom. Even if they misuse it.

You guys seem to be incapable of understanding that we don't live in America, America lives in US! American Spirit is what it's called. And killing a few thousand of us, or a few million of us, won't change it. Most of the time, it's a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of Spirit. Until we're crossed in a cowardly manner, then it becomes an entirely different kind of Spirit.

Wait until you see what we do with that Spirit, this time.

Sleep tight, if you can. We're coming.

Strength and Courage

It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubts.

It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to share a friend's pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide your own pain,
It takes courage to show it and deal with it.

It takes strength to stand guard,
It takes courage to let down your guard.

It takes strength to conquer,
It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to endure abuses,
It takes courage to stop them.

It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on a friend.

It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive,
It takes courage to live.

May you find strength and courage
in everything you do,
And may your life be filled with
Friendship and Love!

Americanism

If you want your father to take care of you, that's
Paternalism,

If you want your mother to take care of you, that's
Maternalism,

If you want comrades to take care of you and everything you do is for the state, that's
Communism;

If you think "if it feels good do it," regardless of the consequences or who it might hurt, and are in this thing just for yourself, that's
Individualism,

If all you care about are your possessions, what you can accumulate in this life and things are more important than people, that's
Materialism,

If you want Uncle Sam to take care of you, depend on the government for everything, don't know the difference between entitlement and benefits, and you think they are totally responsible for your well being, then that's not only stupid, but
Socialism;

But, if you take care of yourself, be held responsible for your behavior, hold yourself accountable for your actions, feel a responsibility to be a good and productive citizen, promote the betterment of mankind and bring honor to the greatest country on the face of the earth, then that, my friend, is
Americanism.

This is not something I wrote, but I thought it is really cool! It's a poem read to the rhythm of The Grinch. (the Grinch who Stole Christmas) It's a little long, but worth reading.

Every U down in Uville liked U.S. a lot,
But the Binch, who lived Far East of Uville, did
not.
The Binch hated U.S.! The whole U.S. way!
Now don't ask me why, for nobody can say,
It could be his turban was screwed on too tight.
Or the sun from the desert had beaten too bright
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too
small.
But, Whatever the reason, his heart or his turban,
He stood facing Uville, the part that was urban.
"They're doing their business," he snarled from his
perch.
"They're raising their families! They're going to
church!
They're leading the world, and their empire is
thriving,
I MUST keep the S's and U's from surviving!"
Tomorrow, he knew, all the U's and the S's,
Would put on their pants and their shirts and their
dresses,
They'd go to their offices, playgrounds and
schools,
And abide by their U and S values and rules.
And then they'd do something he liked least of all,
Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Would stand all united, each U and each S,
And they'd sing Uville's anthem, "God bless us! God
bless!"
All around their Twin Towers of Uville, they'd
stand,
and their voices would drown every sound in the
land.
"I must stop that singing," Binch said with a
smirk,
And he had an idea--an idea that might work!
The Binch stole some U airplanes in U morning
hours,
And crashed them right into the Uville Twin Towers.
"They'll wake to disaster!" he snickered, so sour,
"And how can they sing when they can't find a
tower?"
The Binch cocked his ear as they woke from their
sleeping,
All set to enjoy their U-wailing and weeping,
Instead he heard something that started quite low,
And it built up quite slow, but it started to
grow--
And the Binch heard the most unpredictable thing...
And he couldn't believe it--they started to sing!
He stared down at U-ville, not trusting his eyes,
What he saw was a shocking, disgusting surprise!
Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any towers at all!
He HADN'T stopped U-Ville from singing! It sung!
For down deep in the hearts of the old and the
young,
Those Twin Towers were standing, called Hope and
called Pride,
And you can't smash the towers we hold deep inside.
So we circle the sites where our heroes did fall,
With a hand in each hand of the tall and the small,
And we mourn for our losses while knowing we'll
cope,
For we still have inside that U-Pride and U-Hope.
For America means a bit more than tall towers,
It means more than wealth or political powers,
It's more than our enemies ever could guess,
So may God bless America! Bless us! God bless!

They were just showing pictures that children had drawn about the WTC attacks on the news. One was the towers still standing, but on fire. And the people weren't jumping out the windows and going down, they were going up. The little six year old made them angels. It was so sweet. I know, I know, I'm acting like such a girl, but I can't help it.
