Now, about my "religion." I believe that there are an infinite number of forces that interconnect everything in the universe and beyond the universe. Everything affects everything else, no matter how slightly. Good and evil are determined only by the individual viewing them. Evil is the greater of the two forces. Evil will usually triumph over good. However, despite its weakness, good has extraordinary luck, and even the greatest evil will eventually give way to a partial good. Nothing is completely good or completely evil, and all life in the universe is free to live or die whenever and however it wishes to within its means.

I wrote the following for a U.S. Government class assignment, but it so eloquently conveys my personal political philosophy that I felt it would be a valuable addition to my personal information here. Without further ado, I present my short essay: My Political Ideology.

Political identity in a chaotic and complex world like the one we live in can be difficult to find, especially with the strong pressures exerted on one from both sides during daily life. Many people adopt the ideology of their parents, often without even realizing it. I myself have undoubtedly been heavily influenced by my far-left leaning family; but I have also strived with great success to find my own identity and positions based on my own knowledge and values.
I am overall far left, hovering close to the radical side of the basic two-dimensional political scale. On issues of economy I lean even further to the left; placing me firmly into a communist standpoint in that arena. Fortunately for my sanity, I do have a good grasp of situational reality which allows me to temper my idealist views with provisions for inevitable human imperfection. I am a heavy believer in the need for government to support its people; economically, socially, and practically. By combining this base value with the realization that government must be checked to fend off the corruption that plagues such oligarchies, you find my political standpoint: a radical left-wing basis anchored by right-wing common sense.
With such an odd, unbalanced philosophy it is difficult to place myself with any one political party. According to my results on the SelectSmart website, my political views most closely coincide with those of the Green Party, the Independent and Socialist parties claiming close alternative positions. When asked my party affiliation though, I draw on my ideals rather than my realistically-tempered platform and respond quite confidently �Communist.� I am clearly my own candidate.
Speaking purely in terms of addressing issues, I can easily pick out three from the Communist Party USA platform that more than deserve my support. Firstly, their intention to raise the minimum wage to living wage standards, taking into account cost of housing and other essentials. I firmly believe that all people deserve the base resources that they need to live in acceptable conditions. Also, I admire the party�s support of the Medicare for All bill, which provides full health coverage for everyone; including prescription drugs. If we do not provide medical help to everyone who needs it, how can we call ourselves civilized at all? No one should die because of economic status. Finally, I love the party�s goal of ending harmful buildup of the military budget and transferring those funds to human needs. I say, deal with the problems at home before you start telling other nations what to do.
Conversely, I can also pick three positions, one from each of the major three parties (Democratic, Republican, and Independent), that I disagree with. First, the Democratic Party�s plan to spend money on and give tax credits to small businesses is unacceptable. Those resources should be poured into tightening standards for existing businesses, not opening insignificant entrepreneurial avenues. Second, the Republicans� lack of a solid plan to bring self-sufficiency back to America is nothing but inexcusable. Free trade on the level which they seek to achieve will simply encourage more companies to move outside our borders and increase the already-gaping chasm between the upper and lower classes while shrinking the endangered middle class. Lastly, the Independent Ralph Nader�s policy of restricting the immigration of skilled workers into the United States is farsighted, appropriate for a circumstance of global unity that does not currently exist. If monopolization of talent is our nation�s key to success, then so be it.
I may not be old enough to vote in the 2004 presidential election, but if I was my vote would most likely go to the Democratic Party. Though they may not be the closest to my heart, I feel an immediate responsibility to promote George Bush�s most formidable opponents. I feel that the current Republican policy is so damaging to the nation that removing their candidate from office in favor of a lesser evil overrules my own ideology. In the future though, I am more likely to vote for either the Green or Socialist parties than the Democratic Party.
