^Really? I think season 5 is the show's best year.
So far, the first half of season 7 has been weak...most eps split up the team too much, IMO. However, there are strong indications that the second half of the season will be far better, including guest appearances by Robert Picardo from Voyager, and Adam Baldwin from Firefly.

im looking forward to more Anubis episodes, he is by far the greatest bad guy so far =). I heard he thinks ja'ffa (sp) are not sufficient to carry out his duties so he develops a new kind of army? something like that.

Went to Circuit City to finally pick up season one of SG-1, and naturally they were out. They did have 3 of the DVDs sold individually, so I just picked those up.

Its about $20 cheaper if you buy online, at www.northamericandvd.com .
I get almost everything there these days.

Ok, they are always trying to find a way to make the computers dial the stargate faster. Why not just use the DHD that they found in Antarctica? I mean, even if the DHD wasn't compatible with that stargate, they could change out the stargates. I know it would be a huge hassle, but I'd think it'd be worth it to get those few extra moments.

In which episode? As I recall, they had to speed up the dialing twice: in "The But for the Grace of God", and in "Serpent's Song".
The first was in an alternate universe; they might not have even found the Antarctic gate. The second, they only had about 30 minutes to whip something up, and the DHD was over at Area 51.
But you're right, that DHD does sort of get forgotten by the show----for a while. In the sixth season episode "Frozen", they retroactively explain why we didn't see that DHD again.
As for why they didn't keep the sped-up dialing proceedure, I've always assumed that it probably would have needed a lot more power to spin the Gate that fast.

It was an AU ep. An early one, just before the destruction of Apophis, I think. Since that reality and "ours" were so close, it'd be logical to assume that about the DHD, also. I know alot of the personnel were different, and Sam & Jack were engaged, but the technical things were the same, like the coordinates, the attack, etc...

Well, in any case, we can just assume that the Goa'uld had already blown the hell out of Area 51 in that reality.

Hmm.....he definately says that in "Serpent's Song", but I was under the impression he meant "Maybe its (your) dad."
I'll have to watch that.

^Good episode, as are the first few of season 7. After that, it becomes somewhat standard, though. I'm hoping for a better second half to the season.

Me, too, for the most part. I read about it at Amanda Tapping's website.

i saw first episode of Season 7 now, it was good, especially since Anubis was about, but i detected a slight ripp-off of starwars, with the exhaust pipe attack and that shot of the central complex of that super-weapon. too similer to StarWars, however it was still a great sequence.

I noticed that too CS, actually I was looking for Jack to make a joke about it. Disappointed that he didn't.

^Yes he did. "I thought we were going with Red Leader on this one?" or something like that.
It was a tribute, not a ripoff IMO. SG1 does that all the time---it was inevitable they'd get around to Star Wars eventually.

Missed that. I was disappointed with the whole thing anyway.
