Even if they do make them, I'll bet the best they can project is a bowl of cereal. I doubt we'll have holographic doctors and such

You know your claims are useless without a link.
*hint*

I'm quite sceptical either way...We may be able to project them, but will we be able to interact with them?

They would need a HIGHLY sophisticated forcefield around them to give them the appropriate texture it and it would need a HIGHLY sophisticated computer to give it "virtual weight"....and to the best of my knowledge none of that technology is even close to our current abilities.

I heard that they have developed a hologram but it can't interact with people and it can't hold its shape if you touch it, but the fact that we can develop holograms is cool.

Well actually I think that as soon as we had a working full scale hologram of a person working, I'd assume that some company would immediately start working on a mobile emmiter of sorts. Think RC cars with a platform on top. Now whether or not these holograms can actually physically touch you is another matter entirely.

PostWed Oct 08, 2003 8:57 pm    Guys

Everyone holograms and holographic projectors do exist however unlike on Star Trek there are electronic force fields therefore we cant touch them and there preprogramed no one can talk to them and have the hologram reply

The reason why there has been no self-replying holograms is because humans in general are lazy (exploitive deleted). They really need to just sit down for a year and think up all possible sentances that a human generally uses and then right down the responses to them.

Then you do it.

There are millions of different words in the english language, with exponentially more combinations, in fact, there are infinate combinations, depending on how long a sentence, or series of sentences are.

The meaning of a sentence can be completely changed around by the context it is in. A program that could recognize context would be insane.

Perhaps one could try to use language in which the context was understood. We could give up a little laziness in our language and just speak so it understands us with no problems. Just because we are comfortable with our language doesn't mean that we should force everyone else to use it like we do. We can sacrifice that comfortability so we can evolve technologically.

Are you trying to say that we should get the 250 million people in the United States (not to mention dozens of other countries as well) to stop speaking English the way we all speak it, just so we can create interactive holograms?

Yeah, right.

i agree we should just wait untill holograms are that evolved but we could make our language a little less complex

I'm not saying that we all need to learn it. I'm implying that perhaps....well how about the hologram program learn to ask specifically which of the context used would be the appropriate context to use.
