Sat Sep 06, 2003 5:30 am Swedish Police...UNARMED!? |
|
Well, the Police will recieve upgrades to their Sig Sauer Handguns, a bullet that becomes bigger when it hits a human body. The old bullet, which have been used since the 80's go straight through a human, which of course increases the risk for someone else to also get hurt.
However, there are some Politicians that think that they should use the old bullet, but mainly...Pepperspray.
Yes, you heard me. Pepperspray.
They go against criminals with automatic weapons with Pepperspray.
What is Swedish Politicians thinking!?!?!

I dunno... but most police in the UK are unarmed. In fact, it's an event to see armed police here!

Then I guess you dont have criminals running around with MP5 Sub-machineguns and gang shootouts.

The new bullet you described is not a new think at all. It is called a Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP). The ones they were using before were probally Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) rounds. The thing they should be careful with is the hollow rounds do not penetrate bullet proof jackets.
And, pepper spray olny? Are these politicians nuts!

Not normally, no. It's normally glass bottles and chair legs.

It's slightly less dangerous... and the glass bottles are being phased out too... new laws meaning you're not allowed them in the city centres
Still, we do have armed police.. and they work wonders when they're used.

Wow, no glass bottles in certain places? Talk about an infringement upon personal freedoms.

Still....
Walking from somewhere else with a bottle in your hand will get you in trouble. I find it odd.

It is a bit, but it has reduced glass related injuries in the city centres by about 80%, so it seems to be working.

Next they'll use sticks and stones. If someone wants to fight, they'll find a way. I hear bicycle chains hurt like hell.

Typical egotistical response
But I guess for some people it hurts too much to walk away from a fight.
I am looking forward to the day when the government announce the adoption of a police state policy and begin to use the nerve stapling technique on bad people. Theyll no longer have the uh inclination to fight after that will they?
BTW - JHPs are utterly evil to be shot with! (Not that Ive been shot by one though)

yes, charles manson was a saint, and so is the guy who brakes into your house and steals a stereo.
although, a lot of people do get busted for some stupid *beep*, I hate laws, people should be able to tell right from wrong, there shouldnt have to be a law that sais you cant kill someone. everyone should be perfect, like me
